Question Gooseneck dolly?

I'm curious as to what the little dollys that convert gooseneck trailers to bumperpulls are called. I saw a few out in Montana when I was there. Essentially they are a little trailer with wheels that mounts to the gooseneck, and has a bumperpull hitch, so you can pull a gooseneck trailer with a bumper hitch. I saw a truck towing two big horse trailers this way. First hooked up in the bed, second trailer hooked up to the bumper of the first with a dolly. Similar to the ones the big-rigs use to tow two trailers, but for goosenecks.

What are they called?

Its just a dolly to do exactly what you saw. I did that for 7 years. I bought mine from Sundowner trailers. I wouldnt recommend using a dolly to avoid using a goosneck hitch. Ive heard that DOT is somewhat cracking down on those and that they have to be 5th wheel single axle units with functional brakes, but that was after I hung up my hat. You can call about any of the horse trailer haulers and they can direct you where to get one.

Looks just like what I saw. It could have been a Hitch Buddy, or homemade, I didn't get a close enough look to tell for sure.

Thanks all, satisfied my curiosity!

even though the tow buddy can tow 23,000#, aren't you still at the mercy of the bumper pull capacity (12,000#tow 1200# tw)?
