I've been looking at Gooseneck car haulers and was interested to see what all of you are using. I'm looking for something around 28 - 30' in length, open, not enclosed, at least 12k + capacity, it needs to be able to sqeeze two small 4x4's ( Toyota Landcruisers) on it, most of the time I'll only be hauling one rig. I've seen a few lowboy gooseneck carhaulers by Alumna-Line and some independent builders that I particularly liked, but am also considering deckover dovetails. Can any of you recommend a particular name brand(s), good places to have one built/buy one(ideally in the mid west to rocky mountain regeon) or web sites to check out. Thanks in advance for any tips on this.

I have a hi deck heavy duty 25ft with dual tandems with a 5th wheel coupler as well as an 18ft speedloader tag.

28 ft is not going to fit much of 2 cars on (?) but for 2 small cars you could get a small deckover from whomever. The problem comes when you put CARS on a deckover that don't have the ground clearance to get on a deckover without scraping underneath. BIG TEX makes very nice trailers. JEEPS, etc. will be fine. What'd you'd want is a 12GN BigTex in a 12GN or 14GN in a, for example 28+5, which is 28 ft flat deck + 5 ft dovetail with fold over ramps.

This is what I use mainly for tractors but I have had Neons and other small cars on there as well as my truck and a few others. It is a 24 foor flat with a four foot dove, and rated at 14000 pounds. Failry inexpensive too, I paid $3995 out the door in NC.

Njoverkill, I'm leaning toward 30' + lowboy w/o the dovetail, Two short wheel base lifted 4x4s should fit; it'll be a snug fit.
I like the Load-Trail, PJ and Fleetneck gooseneck low boy carhaulers, plus it'd be pretty easy to get one around here; anybody have experience with these?

Check out this place. I dont know how many acers of trailers they have but its a lot. They are only abought 20 minutes from my house. BIG BIG place. I have heard from freinds that where looking for a trailer simaler to what you want that there prices are better than they could find elsware. At the time the airial photo on there site was taken I can count around 65 GN trailers sitting there. Should have one to fit your need.

I used to haul my Jeeps on a wedge trailer but they where to high and then to a deck over, much better, then to a low deck car trailer, perfect. Get a full deck and dovetail to load low cars and haul other things, You'll need 32-35 ft. deck to haul 2 cars, get a 35'. I have a 35' Kaufman trailer works very well, easy to load/unload with lots of d rings.

Having a Cruiser myself, I'd say no less than 30', 32' preferrably. Never know when your buddy with a Toy Pickup will need a ride too...

I see shorter GN's for sale all the time, but the guys with the 30-34' ones seem to keep 'em forever... I'm sure there's a reason!

RickCJ, Eskimo, thanks for the replys, Diamond C Fleetneck series has a 34' GN that I particularly like, plus there's a dealer about fiteen miles from home. Eskimo, have you ever checked out www.ih8mud.com great landcruiser forum.

some more land cruise junkies, the only problem with the low deck trailers is rigging them up with drive over fenders. if your rig is 83''s or less wide it is not a concern. my cruiser is in the 94'' wide area. so i went with a deck over trailer to make it simple. a 20+5 trailer will be a real tight fit, and may not make it with the fj60. a 28' should do it, and a 30' would make it simple.

Gunracer1, are you running a Landcruiser, if so what model?
Eskimo, I recognize the name, I go by Gus on Ih8mud.
If I do go with a Lowboy it'll have the drive over fenders, my FJ40 isn't very wide but the FJ60 will be sporting wider axles and bigger tires so it'll be a tight sqeeze. I've pretty much decided to go with something in the 30- 32' range.

IIRC, he's got a 40.. With the world's smallest tires ever to be used on Rockwell 2.5 ton's.. Hmmm, no :flipoff2: on the DTR.. oh well..
