Goose neck for a 5th wheel

Have not heard of anyone using a goose neck on their fiver and wondered if anyone is doing it. I currently use a Reese 16K but just wondered.

Any one know the cost to convert to a gooseneck and pros and cons on using one?

Re:Goose neck for a 5th wheel

Not a good idea...goosenecks are reinforced...5er's dont have the streight in the box area to handle the stress a add on gooseneck would put on that area...there have been reports of these add on goosenecks cracking the 5er mount area

I think I read some posts at the other site about this problem

.

Re:Goose neck for a 5th wheel

I have seen a 5er in Yuma being towed by a goosneck hitch. It had an adapter which is attached to the pin box on the 5er. I believe Camping World sells them. Since the manufacturer of the 5er frame did not put a gooseneck on the 5er, It cannot be recommended as safe. If you must have a gooseneck hitch Reese has a gooseneck that is attached to the same bedrails as your 16K 5er hitch. That is a tested and proven unit. With the gooseneck adapter attached to the 5er pin box you would have at least three manufacturers involved. If anything went wrong they would attempt to "pass the buck" in terms of liability and you would get left "holding the bag". :'( :'(
