Gooneck hitch problem... help!!!
I've got an Atwood Folding Gooseneck hitch in the bed of my truck. It was there when I got it and has worked just fine until yesterday.
I can't get the ball up. It seems like it's frozen solid. I just used the hitch two weeks ago hauling a load to a job site and now I needed to haul one today, tomorrow at the latest and it won't budge. I started yesterday spraying the crap out of it with penetrating spray, still not movement. There no lock for this ball, it used to just pop up and down. Any ideas????

Okay I'll give that a shot .. I didn't know I'd be able to see it from underneath .. maybe it was the side I looked at but it looked like it was all enclosed in a steel plate basket .. I can see light at the ball end though so I'll crawl under again and see what I can see.

I did check for anything foreign in there and I didn't see anything. This won't budge at all .. not even wiggle up or down. I'm still trying to figure out where the plug that locks it up is.

when I got my truck it was frozen up with the ball down.......it took me soaking it in WD-40 and beating it with hammer from the top and bottom to get it to loosen up. not its fine, but I put some grease on the moving parts of the hitch.

The thing I don't get it I've used it every week for the past few weeks since I got my trailer and now all of a sudden it froze. It hasn't even rained since I used it last and it's been warm. It's baffling me.

Got it all greased up and we pushed up on it with a little pressure from a bottle jack and it moved up about 1/2", we then used a rubber mallet and pushed it back down, then up again with the jack and it went further .. a few times of this and we could get a 4' pry bar under the ball end and we got it up. Wow. I don't know how that happened all of a sudden like that when it used to be just grab it with my fingers and lift it up but it sure was tight in there. Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I don't know that I could have check under neath again since I already wrote that off as no access point. I was about ready to cut the welds off the bolts underneath and rip it out of the truck and relace it. It's up though and the trailer is hooked up.
