Re:Gen Set
Raften,
I have heard a partial full tank can give some problems at higher altitudes, especially if your regulator is not up to snuff. I had problems with my diesel gen at 13,000'. I have not had this propane very high yet to try.

An old timer was looking at my rig and told me he always tops off his tanks if he knows he is going into higher altitudes. Sounds like a winner to me.

Re:Gen Set
Propane is a liquid until vaporized - with a low cylinder and low temps the liquid has a harder time getting into the gaseous phase and past the regulator. A "battery blanket" type of setup might work but you would need to keep the temp just high enough to get vaporization - more heat = more pressure and tanks do not like too much pressure (and you wouldn't want the popoff to dump inside an enclosure).

Ask your local propane supplier if they have any suggestions. If keeping a full tank will fix it that is probably the safest, cheapest way to go.
