We tow a 13,500 lb 5th wheel that puts us on the road at 21,180 GCW (21,500 GCWR). With the 4.10 gears, I've looked into the GearVendors and U.S. Gear overdrives.
One thing to be aware of is that the GearVendors unit is an update of the old Laycock overdrive as used on Austin Healeys, Triumphs, MGs, Volvos, etc. in the 60's thru 80's. It does not have the capability to handle significant reverse torque loads when engaged, and therefore is not recommended for use with an exhaust brake when engaged. Although there are workarounds (some people tie the e-brake solenoid into a relay so that the GearVendors unit disengages when the e-brake engages, or so the e-brake will not engage if the GearVendors unit is engaged), if I had either the NV4500 or NV5600, I'd personally look at the U.S. Gear unit.

I've done the math before, and if you figure an approx cost of about $2000 for the unit, and a 1 or 2 mpg improvement, you'll have to drive your truck around 200,000+ miles before you just break even on your puchase/installation costs.
To me, taller tires (when the old ones wear out) make more sense.
But then again, I'm all for more toys....

Yep I figure the $2000-3000 for the overdrive would be much better spent on fuel injection for the 440 in my off-roader that gets used once or twice a month ya gotta have priorities on your toys ya know, even if they are screwed up, LOL
