Gear ratio 3.73 vs 4.10

I am thinking about having the stock 3.73 gears replaced with 4.10 gears.
My trailer weighs 9500 pounds loaded and I am hoping the 4.10 gearing will help the truck to pull the trailer easier. Any input on towing would be appreciated.

stroker, fill out your sig block with the year, model of your truck and what tranny you've got in it. Over size tires?

Where you do you live, and where do you normally tow at?

With that G56 manual and the 3.73 gears your truck has a higher 6th than my truck does with the 48re/4.10's. You should be fine.

I'm pulling 15K lbs. with 3.73's. When I get in the hills with 6% grade's I just down shift into 2nd gear and keep the rpms around 2500-2700. That put's me at about 45-48 mph with the 48re. Thats enough speed for me and the truck seems to run good in that range. The water, tranny and EGT temps are all within a good margin of safety.
When I bought the truck I thought it had 4.10's in it. So much for believeing a salesman. I guess if I pulled alot in the hills 4.10 mite make it better, but I'm dealing with it. When I'm running around town I'm sure glad I have the 3.73's

I think with the 6 speed manual you really don't need the 4.10 until you are towing over 12K. I went 4.10 because I am dragging about 16K. You will get better mileage with the 3.73 and be a little faster on the freeway and still be in that economical 1900 rpm range. When I am running solo, I am wanting 7th gear quite often.

I tow over 20k lbs almost daily with my 3.73's and its fine and thats with the NV5600 trans so I have a lower ratio trans then you. Sure going up some hills the 4.10's would be nice but not worth the swap to me.
