Friction Type Anti Sway Bar

Friction Type Anti Sway Bar
I have been considering installing a friction type sway bar on my ATV trailer. I will only use the anti sway bar when it is hitched to my 5ver. I have pulled my boat behind my 5ver with no sway problems but a light ATV trailer with only two ATV's on it I get some sway. I have moved the weight around and try and keep the tounge at about 10%. Has any one have experince with thease, some RV boards say it is just a band aid. I don't get any sway going straight down the road it happens when avoiding rough spots or debri in the road or over train tracks.

I also use one on my boat trailer when I put it behind my 5er. It won't hurt anything, and they only cost about $100. The RV boards are talking about using them to correct a sway problem, as is haulin-rv I suspect. If the trailer is loaded correctly one will help in the situations you describe.

I had a friction type sway bar on a travel trailer that I owned and it was a piece of junk, did nothing, I would tighten it down as much as possible and nothing, I even put a pipe on the handle one time to crank it down and nothing. Do yourself a flavor, and buy a Dual Cam Sway Control System, twice as much money but they work excellent.

Like was already mentioned,a friction bar is just about useless for a travel trailer. For something lighter like a small pop-up or utility type trailer it should work perfect.

I find the sway control works well when hauling an empty flatbed in high winds.
But I really stopped using it because it was LOUD.
When in a parking area, turning at all that thing made such a groan.

I have one that I use whenever I'm hitting the highway with my 26' enclosed trailer. It seems to work but I do have to crank down tight on the handle. Of course, once you do that then you have to listen to it creaking really loudly when you are driving slow and making a turn.....
