Never seen a Cummins with a 4:30 rear. Man, bet that would sound like a buzz saw.

I guess the Dodge does what the Ferd will do with a 4:10 rear.

I can't understand why changing the ring and pinion 5% gives a nearly 25% increase in towing? Different axle?

Why does it change so much on the Dodge going from 3.73 to 4.10?? Is that a different rear end?

Good point... same rear end on our trucks though...

I guess it's like was said before: factory ratings and capabilities are 2 different things...

Altering the ring and pinion ratio changes rear wheel torque.........4.10's put 9% more torque to the wheels than 3.73's............this also extends converter/clutch life and can lower temps in an auto when towing heavy.........

Confucius once said:

To answer the question about why are people buying the Fords with the 19,000 pound capacity, one must first answer the question "where is the Ram 5500?"

Me thinks if you take 19,000lbs and add the weight of the truck, 7,500lbs or more, you be a commerical vehicle at 26,500lbs combined.

The ferrd engine turns 4,300rpm, I hear, so lots of room at 65-70mph on the tach. Won't do squat for torque at the lower end. The 4:30 will help that alot.

You can buy Cat hauler with 860ftlb of torque used, low miles, for what that ferrd will cost with all them goodies I'll bet. You know that intergrated tow package, can't get it with the 6 speed manual tranny.

This is nothing more then a rating,no one has ever seen it nor done it, as they have not been able to keep a 6.0 out of the shop long enough!! (Sorry I just could not help myself)

Thats ford for ya. They try to keep up but its just not going to happen. To bad for them I guess. And as for the 6 hoes I dont want to lower myself to that level but I can say one thing. My sisters boyfriend called me about 6 months ago and was bragging about how his uncle just bought a King Ranch with the 6.0. All I said to him was watch it she will give you problems sooner or later. Well It was deff sooner, about 3 months after purchase he coughed a turbo and I got to laugh in the Ford boys faces and Loved every minute of it. All I could say was "should have bought a Dodge with a cummins" and they just glared at me. lol it was very funny!!!

I love the latest Ferd truck advertisement I saw on TV, showing the F350 on a jobsite pulling a heavy load as they quote "Ford F350.... more available torque than Chevy or Toyota" .

What no mention of Dodge?

They should say... " Ford F350.... almost as powerful as the mighty Dodge Ram CTD"

Be careful not to prod yourself into a low grade!
