It's a cab and chassis model with 4:30 gearing.

You have to tow in reverse low range.

Yeah, had '99 F450 Powerjunk crew cab, 6spd, all the tows. Pulled 23,000 5'th wheel trailer with it for less than 60,000 miles.
The rearend wnt as did the 6spd. Both just out of warranty.

$9,000 dollars to put back together

Oh did I mention that was hauling live cattle in summer temperatures??

And the Ford tech said the tranny failure was due to not 1 but two manufacturing defects??? Ford still would not cover. Just said "oh well" made it trhrough the dismal warranty period.

Pathetic.

Tank on the truck was so small and fuel mileage was so bad with that load and those low low gears you could hardly make it from fuel station to fuel station in remote areas. Installed 60 gallon pusher tank to compensate.

Tow ratings are determined as much by warranty and legal departments as they are by actual capability.

It looks like the tow rating is for the F450/550.

When I saw the commercial a second time I noticed something. At the top of the screen they were claiming the 19,000lb towing cap but at the bottom of the screen it said something like "F350 towing cap 15,000lb" Some creative advertising huh?

No show

One person on a horse trailer web site ordered one of the 19,000lb tow Fords. He seems to want it real bad but Ford and the dealer can't seem to produce it for him. He can't even find out if it is being built and the dealer can't either. Alot of good that does to have a truck advertised that you don't produce much less the fact that it will have the 6.0. That won't last long.

ford boys think they can pull 50,000 though. The teacher at my school with his new F350 4x4 Crew Cab dually thinks his payload is 8000lbs and his tow capacity is 25,000 and twice that with the 2wd's with 6sp. As soon as we get onto the ford website he just walks away.

This must be a reminder to always read the fine print?
