Fixed my transmission overheating.

I bought an 05 3500 4X2 dually, HO CTD, SLT, Quad cab, long bed, 6 speed manual, 3.73 LS rear axle.
Yahooo!

I had a moment of impulse buying. I couldn't resist the discounts they were offering.

This truck is awesome. After living with the 1st Gen for so long, this is sheer luxury.

Before I can take the trailer out again, I have to get the bed Line-Xed and add a 5th wheel hitch. Even though it is only a 4X2, the wife says she needs a wooden box to get in and out, so I guess I also need to get some nerf bars.

Good going on getting the new truck. When you get a chance put pix in yourgallery. Your 1st gen looks nice.
When I get back to the US I'll put our truck pix in the gallery.
Had to put on a flat running board, not the nurf bars for wife. It was still too big a step for her bad leg, so she marked the spot where the steps are attatched to the running board. Works well for us.
Enjoy the new truck

Thanks for the compliment on the 1st gen, dssimecek, it originally came out of Arkansas, never driven in salt. It still has no rust on it, not even underneath. Only reason I'm upgrading is because of the weak transmission.

I put a pic of the truck in my photos. Taking it in this lunch time to get a Line-X bed sprayed on. Next come the bars and the cover. I'm putting bars on because I don't want to have anything sit close against the side of the rocker panel, where it can collect mud and road dirt, and act as a site for rust. My 1st gen has the running boards, and I have a heck of a time cleaning down in there.

Boy is it is hard getting used to the gear ratios in the 6 speed. I imagine they will be fine for towing, but solo, the first 3 gears only get you up to about 20 mph. If it wasn't that I don't want to slip the clutch too much, I'd start off in 3rd to keep up with the traffic.

That's a great way to fix an overheating tranny. I'll have to remember that FIX next time something goes wrong with my truck.

I hope you get better acceptance than I did. I'm going to have to sweet talk to her a lot, to get her to forget this one.
