First Shakedown cruise on my new Raptor 5th wheel

Better to post the link from the TDR as there are numerous replies there to this.

Here is a thread that has more detailed pics of the inside. Some of these are not what I have but just like it.

http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...d.php?t=115711

And a thread on the super 5th hitch I installed myself.

But heres a pic of my unit down in southern ca. Desert for Thanksgiving.

what shocks or air bags do you have on the rear axle? The truck sits perfectly level with what looks to be a BUNCH of tongue weight!

The fifth wheel looks great, and the tow truck looks great in front of it

Hey you just keep the rest of us informed when you plan on getting on the road because you are way over weight.
I sure hope you don't get stopped by the man, because you are going to get a real BIG ticket for that one.
You should be pulling that with a Dually and I know you are over payload also.

Yes the truck may pull it but are you safe
Good luck, Nice unit anyway

I have the coil spring helper that mr Bob's dist sells. The rear is raked up a bit when unloaded, I need better shocks for the weight on highway dips but yeah it is heavy but not as much as you would think. from a scale weight, I estimate the pin at 2600#

I have 2 boxes making 400 hp and 800 tq. but I turn off 100hp on 1 box cruising....

Jake brake, mag-hytec diff cover fr. and rear, carbon kevlar front pads and slotted rotors. Also the Brake guard canisters on the line which DOES improve the brake response and makes shorter stopping distances.

Even with this big weight, (which is like a 1 ton GCWR) I hardly use the foot brakes very hard when using the jake to slow down first. Also 6 wheels of brakes on the trailer helps as well....

super gewl,

I plan on staying out of Oregon which is a copy cat state of California. Also not going there anymore because of the riding restrictions and such....

The truck sits level because it has suspension equal of a single wheel 1 ton. Now, a 1 ton ha s bigger payload onboard because of the 2 extra wheels and overload springs that dont engage untill you hit over 3000 or 4000# Otherwise they are exactly the same as a 3/4 ton. Go look at the new dodges and compare the springs. Except for overload leafs, they are the same... Even the 1 ton singe wheel...

i agree I should have a dually for the on-board weight as my e rate tires on the rear axle are close. Still have almost 1000# rating left on it but the axle is right at 6000 limit.

Right at the moment, i work driving truck for a living so my excursions are less than 100 miles to the desert once in a while so later on, when I do more traveling and I am able to get another truck, I will....

Just saw the tow ratings of the 3500 ram 12,200 GVW tow rating of 15,500 (with a 4X4 and QC), and max GCVW of 23,000 with the 4.10 rear. That is what my setting is at right now.

I'm not at 12,200 .....but at 10,600 for the truck weight with 3 adults and 2 dogs. but I am at the 23,000 weight though

Nice lookin set up there. I have been looking and looking at toy haulers and that one is one of the nice'st I have seen. How long is the cargo area? I have a local New Vision/Sportsman dealer and will probobly go that rout when the budget alows. They look real comparable to your Raptor. I think that 34-36 foot range is abought perfect. Not to big not to small. Enjoy. I know I would.

Where did you go riding in Oregon? If you know were to go in Oregon it has some of the most diverse ride'n out there. Better than most states I've been to.
