Firestone Air Bags and PacBrake Compressor

Need help to figure out how to use the same air compressor for air bags and air tank for PacBrake Exhaust brake. I have the Firestone Ride Rite bags with one compressor filling both air bags at same time. Haven't purchased the PacBrake as of yet but trying to save a few bucks by using the same compressor. These items are and will be used on my 2004.5 Dodge Cummins...thanks

if you already have a compressor for the bags is it big enought to run the pacbrake system? is so then plumb the comp to an air tank then valve it so run the bags also. if pauly reads this im sure he can tell you what kind of comp youll need

Here I am!

What you need to do is plumb the tank and solenoid to your existing setup. Here are some closeup pics of the Pacbrake setup:

This pic shows (from top to bottom) quick coupling, output to solenoid, and outlet to air tank.

This pic shows the solenoid. Air line on the left goes to the brake air cylinder, line on the right is from compressor.

I'm surprised it stays so clean. It's not like I clean it or anything. Shoot, I rarely clean the outside!

great thread. I have airbags currently and want to add the pacbrake and the airbag computer. Which compressor should I buy to run both? Should I buy the airbag setup and do what gsparks is doing? or should I buy the pacbrake setup and run it off of that. Also what should I expect to pay for the pacbrake setup with compressor? Does it come w/compressor regardless? Thanks for the info, Brad

I'd buy the Pacbrake PRXB and use the compressor and tank with the kit. I got my setup from the DTR Store for $1,040.

thanks Pauly. Would I then get the controller for the airbags and tap into the air tank for them. Seems pretty straight forward, and looking at your pics looks like a clean install. How big is the air tank for the pac brake? Thanks much

the air tank with the pacbrake is 1/2 gallon. sufficient for the bags and brake, but adding horns or wanting to fill inner tubes will require more volume. i am going to add a 5 gal tank from pacbrake as well.

Yeah, tap in the Pacbrake setup using the air bag controller. I'm not sure how the air bag controllers are set up but it shouldn't be that hard to do.

Like Brett said, give Lary a call for the Pacbrake. As you noticed, it's not listed on the site.

Right on Harold, thanks for the info!
