Exhaust Brake (Smartbrake)

I am looking to install an exhaust brake on my 5.9 Cummins engine. I spoke to a buddy of mine who installed a Smartbrake on his 5.9 and he loves it. Does anyone else use a Smartbrake or other exhaust brake?

I have a Pac brake on mine as well. Works awesome. Came down out of the mountains last weekend with the toy hauler maxed out and only used the service brakes to stop. Turns heads that's for sure.

I just got a US Gear D-Celerator exhaust brake installed on my 03 6 spd. today. Think I am going to like it. It uses a waste gate instead of orifice holes in the valve plate which made me think it might be safer. It also brakes at lower RPM. It uses an electric solenoid instead of air or vacuum. It has some of the big truck jake brake sound but I have not heard it from roadside to make a comparison.

Lists for about $1150, the factory sold it to me through a dealer in MO. quite a bit less. (Approx. the same as a Pacbrake on Ebay, but not the PXRB)
I do not mean to run Pacbrake down though, that would have been my second choice because of cost. Banks really impressed me but was a lot higher. Good luck.

I also have the PacBrake and agree that their customer service is great. Had a solenoid problem a few months back and they sent the correct part out in a timely fashion and got my brake fixed. I absolutely love the warm-up feature in the winter. Definetly the best mod I ever did to my truck.
