electric brake Q?

I got the Valley Industries Elec brake from Advance ($59) and hooked it up, and it worked great, set it at -4 and 40.

but wihtout a trailer, the digital display shows a - - indicating an open in the wires
and the relay clicks loudly.

is there a fuse I can pull, to cut power to the elec brake, when not towing?

rather not climb under the dash to unhook, were the connector is

I'm not familiar with your controller, mine is a Reese. However, it sure sounds like you have a problem that needs attention, and pulling a fuse is not he answer. My Reese has no display when the trailer is not hooked and no sound at any time. Maybe you should call the tech line and run it by 'em. I don't know about our trucks, but my 01 GMC had an electric brake fuse in the box.

I agree with him. If you don't think it's right, it's better to find the source of the problem than to just pull the fuse on it.

no, the owner's manual says it's normal, as a trouble shooting aid, so if that's displayed while towing, you gotta sit-u-a-shun on your hands.

i just don't want to hear it click, since i prolly won't use the elec brake more than twice a year, to tow my buddy's race car.

If you don't like the noise it makes then you may want to upgrade to a better brake controller.
Try the Prodigy or the Ultima. Yes they are bothe costly but worth the money.

Just my opinion but I think unhooking the connector under the dash would be about as easy as opening the hood, finding the fuse, and then remembering which fuse it is the next time around.

I like the suggestion to try a Prodigy as I have just switched from an "el cheapo" to the Prodigy and WOW what a difference. The Prodigy is sooooo smooth and it compensates for harder stopping. Also, when I come up to a stoplight now there isn't any grabbing or jerking from the trailer brakes with the Prodigy.
