ejectric brake wiring question
Im familiar with electric trailer brake hook ,ups but Im unsure reguarding the lead to the rear plug from the controler for the brake itsself. all the ones I have seen run 1 lead to the trailer. both my trucks have a double wire that I think eleminiates brake surging when the emergency flashers are run. Is this correct? Do you hook both wires togeather at both ends,1 at the controller and then into the one pin at the plug? I have the 6 pin connectors. one is running lights, one for left and for right blks and brakes, one ground and one for the brake power. The center could be used for 12v power for battery charging in a travel trailer or?
Thanks, Apache

Good question. I know on the newer trucks the emergency flashers would have no effect on the trailer brakes whatsoever. I would think that would be the case with any other truck as well no matter how old it is. I can't think of a reason to have two wires running back there....but I'm sure someone here will be able to answer your question.

Apache, I don't know what kind of controller you're using but all of them as far as I know use a single (blue) wire from the controller to the 7-pin connector at the rear and the blue wire happens to connect to pin number 2 of that connector. If you need more info PM me.

Kinda answered my own question today. decided to climb under and inspect all the wiring and found the dual wire that was in both my trucks from 2 different installers simply was a black and a white in a grey plastic case. Why run the ground all the way back, I have no idea. My controllers state "do not hook to chassis ground use battery neg, and also run the black, hot to the battery only".
I thought I read somewhere it was for surging???
Anyhow ripped it all out and started over. Single wire to brake system like normal, etc. works just fine.
