Holy cow!
Here's a link to the "cusomizing shop" that worked on the Intrepid, and did the testing. It's actually pretty cool. Wouldn't catch me doing it with my horse trailer, but it's interesting....
On edit - forgot the link - oops:

One of their customer testimonials is from a nut who tows a 34" Airstream with a Ford Windstar. I don't think that's any better than an Intrepid. My brother tows a 3,000 pound pop-up with his Grand Caravan, we put electric brakes on it because it felt scary going downhill. I can't imagine pulling a 34" trailer with a unibody front wheel drive minivan.

one thing about that is what the heck does it feel like when the trailer starts pushing it down the hill or what about when you get in a cross wind or how long does the motors last i would think they would go though motors like haulin does not to mention the cv joints the tires are you sure there the right grade i could not imagint he ride of an intretpid with 10ply tires or grater hell to get the right tire he would probily have to use trailer tires on the car most of the car hitches if you have look lookes like they bolt to the skid plate on the gas tank

Matt: I had a friend with an El Camino and a 5er hitch. He used it to manuever trailers in the yard. The first 5er hitches were used in coal mines back in the 1800's. Do a google search on the subject.

I do not agree with Andy's philosophy about towing, but I live in the town where his shop is located and I have driven many of the rigs (I helped build their website in the early days).
The Airstream club here has over 100 members, and there is a sharp division in towing philosopies. I must say, however, that in over 10 years, the only serious accidents by members involved those who were pulling with Suburbans or full sized cars.
I would never trust that litle brake wire to stop a 10,000# trailer.
To Hensley or not to Hensley....

Cool old rig
How about this 1936 Aerocar 5er set up. Price was only about $5,000.
Trailer: 1936 Curtiss Aerocar – 5th Wheel
Vehicle: 1938 International D15 Tow Car
The hitch utilized a Glenn Curtis Aero Coupler which consisted of an airplane tire and wheel mounted horizontally and was attached in the rear deck of coupe or roadster.
Pretty neat huh?

Has anyone seen the Levi's commercial where the guy ropes, and rides this funky car with a fiverhitch in the back? I dont understand the commercial, but the car is kinda cool looking.
