can't find wiring harness

Hi guy's sorry for a kinda dumb question but. I have been looking for the connector that goes between the brake controller and the factory plug in.( I have the tow package and I found the blue pug in under the dash) I know these come with the truck but I bought mine used and so I don't have one. I went to the dealer but he told me it was not a dealer item so I went to pep boy's snd the guy there swore it was a dealer item so I went to a trailer place and they said go to the dealer so I went to a different dealer and he looked for a 1/2 hour and could not find a reference. Now I think I have paid my dues and went on the snipe hunt so could someone please tell me where to get tis harness. It really seems odd to be getting the run around on an item that should be in great demand. Oh well I know I will get a straight answer here Thanks

I have not personally been confronted with this but from threads on this site... RV suppliers have a plug in that bridges the blue plug to the Prodegy brake controller. If you cannot find one any other way, you could use one of these and cut the controller plug off.

I have a spare if you are ever in Windsor. I bought the ready made harness with my Prodigy. Saved me from having to solder the DC end to the controller end. Sounds like you are getting the run around. Good luck.

Thanks to all of you for your response. The dealer called this morning and it seems that he had the harness there all along. I guess the part is hard to find in their computer so anyhow I picked it up this afternoon. 19 bucks what a rip but I needed it right away.

Mine was $25 if you want to talk about a rip off. The difference was the parts guy looked up the number and walked right over to the shelf and picked it up.

That part comes with trucks that have the tow package. The dealer I bought my '03 hemi from tried to rip me on it. In checking out the truck before delivery, I noticed the pigtail was missing. Mentioned it to the salesman. Sales manager comes out & tells me the don't come with the package, but they happen to have them in the parts department, for ONLY $20. I responded by telling them that I KNOW they come with the truck out of the factory & if he wants to sell the truck, he'll put it back in. Seems that particular dealership takes 'em out of all the trucks they get with tow package, then sells 'em back in the parts department. When I traded the '03 hemi in on the '04 CTD, I did the '03 buyer a favor. When I was getting the '03 ready to sell, you know taking off my stuff like tonneau cover, rear whell well liners, etc, I took out the brake controller along with the pigtail it was soldered to. Picking up the '04, the salesman handed me the pigtail. I took it over & put it in the '03. What did I need it for? The '03 buyer should have it as part of the tow package.
