Of course you can have your option......I drive commercial all the time I own a Transport Business with the proper insurance and DOT permits....When I moved this house I had wide load banners on the rear of the load and my girl friend ran ahead of me as the scout car and radioed back to me every on comming vehicle that came my way (only 3 cars)..... this move was done on rural country roads for 25 miles.....how many laws did I break ???? maybe I was overloaded but so are most RV's running down the road
My point to you is I did this in the safest way possible at no time did I feel this load was outta control or unsafe my truck pulled it with power to spare......maybe my class 5 hitch was at max load but everything worked out just fine
I will be moving 2 more homes not as big or as far (only 4 miles away) but this time I will include a scout car behind me with a radio too due to the fact that I can't see to my rear with my mirrors

If this was the worst thing I had ever seen on the road, I'd probably think something else. But when I think of some of the stuff I've seen on the road, this is nothing. You're talking about a guy that pulls trailers all the time and even though I don't know him personally, I've seen some of the stuff he pulls regularly and I would trust him a whole lot more than some of the idiots I have seen pulling stuff down the road. And, I'm sure he didn't break any land speed records either.
Come around here some time and see the peanut trailers loaded to the max with the axles bent at a 15 degree and and smoke coming off the wheel bearings running 45 mph, no brakes on the trailer, and being pulled by a half ton Chevrolet pickup. About once or twice a year, you can see grooves in the road where the axles finally gave out and broke and they had to drag the crap off the side of the road.
How about the guy in the F-650 broke down in the middle of the road on a blind curve at 3:30 in the morning with no lights, flares, or anything that my friend ran into and totalled his 99 2500 out. I'm sure he would say Pappy was safer than this guy was. And then there's the idiot that was stopped in the road with no lights on the trailer in a rain storm that my daughter in law hit and totalled out her little Dakota pick up.
I pull antique tractors on a 30 foot gooseneck and at tractor pulls, I've seen guys come in with one little nylon strap run through the frame holding the tractor on the trailer. That's the stuff that scares me. I use four DOT approved chains and binders per tractor and they make fun of me for that. I'll take the extra time, no problem.
And then there's the people that buy a $20 or $30k motorcycle and put it on a $400 trailer with tires the size of riding mower tires and pull it down the road 85 mph.
If you only knew some of the stuff being pulled down the road right beside you when you are on the interstate running 80 mph, this is nothing. Just my opinion.

Pappy, do you own a tractor? If so you can pull the other two with it no permit or fees needed, at lest in Texas its legal. Farm equipment can pull anything anywhere so long as its daylight and within reason.

I got the local mobile home toter to move the next 2 houses for $100.00 each which is more then a fair price.....he's going outta business and will be gettin his trucks ready to sell so he told me since I'm close to him he'll move them when I'm ready
I asked this local guy the weight of a empty 16X80 home he said about 17-21,000 and a hitch weight with 5 axles of about 5-600 lbs.....so I was within the limits of my truck and Class 5 hitch

You were ok Pap. The class 5 reciever, no problem. A pintle type hitch with a 1 1/4 " shank x 2 5/16 ball rated 18,000 and 2000 of tonge wt.-no problem either.
As for mirrors, you only need to see the front corners and roof over hang if any, and know the clearance of any overhead wires, again if any!
Only real issue is speed and stopping ability usually both within drivers control. Pa . is a 2 brake axel state and I personally load my truck bed with weight balanced just so to avoid the tail waging the dog scene that an 80 ft. tail can cause!
And of course the thing about the little lady telling you where to go, both live and on the air!!!
PS, I moved 21 houses to set up for rentals, just a few years ago. To help with off road steering manuverability, I hung my 900lb plow on the front of the truck and in 4x4 could twist those multi axels around alot better.
Bye the way, I missed getting the local politicians to approve my permit , by 3 days and consiquently demolished all 21 and hauled to a land fill.
Best of luck with your project....sty

I moved an 8X40 mobile home with a 1/2 ton PU and a bumper hitch. Only had about a 5 mile trip all on dirt back roads. Rear of the truck set pretty low and didn't even burn the clutch on that old 3 speed tranny. Definitely NOT something I would want to do again.
