Camper topper or bed cover
So I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of this.
Anyone have input on camper toppers such as brand, Price, Fiberglass or Aluminum, Where to get one?
That or i am thinking about just going with a bed cover..The roll up type that are super strong that are meant to keep a thief out. Can anyone give me input on this stuff...Good bad...limitations?
I have a quad and not sure if I had either could I still load my big quad into my truck?
Input guys!!!
Thanks in advance...

The roll bed cover is pretty nice. It looks good, weatherproof, and pretty secure. But, You lose about 18" off the front of the bed. And you can't secure tall things. It's a trade off.
For caps, fiberglass are pretty popular. I think mostly because they look good. But, they're heavy and expensive. Aluminum Is light weight. Most people think it doesn't look as good. It used to be cheaper. But with the rapidly rising cost of alum, they're about the same as fiberglass.

I have a Snug Top shell on my truck. Pretty good shell, real expensive, workmanship is OK. Mine, as with most camper shells, the windows leak. They give you a lot of choices as to windows etc and they will color match your truck---all for about 1200-1500 bucks. I think with the tailgate down and the rear window all the way up I have about 36" of clearance. Also if you ever decide to put an aux tank in the rear of your truck you need to get the fold out side windows so you can fill the tank without crawling into the bed. It protects all your stuff from the weather and you can lock your stuff up in the back of the truck.

I have a Leer camper shell that I bought in '07. Great quality, they color matched it, and so far no leaks. Cost about $1300 if I recall.
While I really like it, the only drawback that I ran into was being unable to put certain bulky items in the bed (like mattresses and such), that either normally sit on the rail or are tall.

What do I think?
I don't think your Quad will fit if you put a topper on, or at the very least it will be a PIA to get it in and properly strapped down.
That said, I loved having a topper because I could throw all kinds of crap in the back and it was (mostly) protected from the elements (and honest thieves). The dog kennel was out of the wind and rain, so I didn't worry too much about the dog, and on occasion I would sleep back there (with mosquito screens on the sliding windows). Made the truck more functional (in my opinion), although it's true you cannot haul tall and bulky stuff. Turns out though, with a topper you find less tall and bulky stuff to haul...
I would go fiberglass, and shop for quality...not price. The difference is only a few hundred bucks, and you'll live with this thing for years. You won't regret spending a bit more to get something you access all the time.

I have the Roll N Lock cover on my truck and you loose 10 inches with it. I had an aluminum fuel tank cut down and installed under it for an additional 23 gal of fuel for long trips. The roll ups lock but are easier to break into than the shells. Both can be broken into. Locks will not keep theives out only keep honest people honest.

If you haul your quad very much a tonneau cover MIGHT work best for you. That or simply use a small trailer.
I haul my Sportsman 850 Touring 2-up in the bed if I'm just using one quad. It still fits, even w/ the 53 gallon aux tank. I can still close the tailgate...barely.

I have an Undercover hard tonneau cover. Weighs about 58 lbs and is easy to remove when I need to haul tall stuff. It is also quite strong. It has also come in handy as a platform to stand on while repairing gutters on my one-story house. Also has been both a platform for DJ's and a large buffet table (removed and placed on sawhorses) at family reunions/parties. Being a hardcover it is also more secure than a cloth type roll-up and does not flap or flutter. It was about $550 a few years back when I purchased it.
