Brake Question

I am getting ready to haul my 5th wheel to the beach (one pass lower elevation) and I just went to Sears and had them put new batteries in my truck and they said my brake pads were almost new but my rotors were just under specs. I am the 2nd owner (80k) so I don't know what has been done before, so I am in a bind. Do I get new brakes and rotors before I go on the trip or can I wait until the summer when the weather is nicer (driveway job) and I have a little more cash? Would all of you feel safe pulling a 5th wheel? I have 0 issues with my brakes, not sloppy nor any noises, and I know the trailer brakes stop the trailer, but how much does it really come down to the truck? Thanks again for your help and I am looking forward to the info as always.

I would question that. Is it part of the normal inspection procedure to MIC out the rotors? I'd take it to another shop and have it checked.

I asked them to check the brakes and I took them to another shop and they confirmed it. Sorry I should have included that info.

I'd be fine with it.. knowing that your trailer brakes are good.

In that case, I would replace them. There is a minimum standard there for a reason. If you overheat them, they can warp. If you seriously overheat them, the can crack or break.

Go down to Autozone and get their life time warranty solid brake rotors. If you have basic hand tools. it's a fairly easy swap.

If the brakes feel good I would wait untill I could do it in the driveway myself.
