My Brakesmart finally arrived and we installed it a couple days ago, I hooked to the 5er today and took her for a spin around the neighborhood checking it out. Like others have said, braking with this unit is like the trailer isn't even there. I am very pleased, needless to say, a difference of night and day over my other controller.
I had no problem paying the higher price for the controller, what's an extra $250 anyway? Chump change when I heard it's the best controller out there and considering how much I value my trailer and truck, there really wasn't anything to think about.

Just broke down and ordered a Jordan from the RV Warehouse. I like the brakesmart but with the wiring harness it was almost $400.00, Thats way out a my league. I've used most of the cheapest brake controllers out there and they work to stop a trailer, just not real smooth about it. I think going from a $20.00 dollar controller to a $100.00 controller is a big enough improvement for me. Now when Brakesmart comes out with a controller that has the guages in it, I'm there.

You will be happy with the Jordan I'm sure. I have had mine for a year and can't believe how much better it works compared to the other controllers I've used. I mounted mine in the ashtray to keep it out of the way of my knee since I don't use the astray anyway. If you need any install tips just PM me. I also used the factory trailer harness instead of running power from the battery. Very clean installation and wouldn't hestitate to buy another one if I needed to.

Does the factory harness just plug into the Jordan or will I need an adapter for that.

My harness plugged into the truck and the pigtail wires coming from the plug got spliced or connected to the wires coming from the Jordan. All wires connected except one, the brake light wire. I don't know if Dodge changed their harness configuration between generations, but you'll probably want to verify what wires do what, and which ones to connect on your truck. Hopefully someone will be around shortly with that info....

The wires on the harness are labeled by function (i.e., 12VDC +, 12VDC - [ground], brake light and trailer brake). The wires on the Jordan will be labeled 12VDC +, 12VDC - [ground] and trailer brake. Splice the wires by FUNCTION, NOT BY COLOR.

Note: The Jordan does not use or need the brake light wire since it senses brake application using the cable to the brake pedal arm. Just fold the brake light wire in the harness back on itself and tape it off.

Hey Bob. I figured you were either gone away or getting slow in your old age. Heading out on Thursday for the south. Have a great trip north. Say hi to Scottie for me.
