brake controller

i was looking under my dash , and i figures since the truck has the 7 way plug in the back, i figured all the wiring would be there to hook up the brake controller, but i did find anything.
can any one tell me where they hook up their controllers and where the best place is to run the wires if i need to?????
i have hook these up before, but i had to run all the wires and make up a 7 way plug.
i heard that almost all new trucks come with the wire pre run for you?
is this true?
still need a 30 amp breaker????

Not sure on a 3rd gen but my 2nd gen has a 4 wire blue plug tucked up under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. My old ex-dakota had the same plug in the same relative spot.

You will find the connector near the top of that mess of wires that goes through the firewall to the left of the steering column. It is there but it takes some searching to find it sometimes.

i think i saw it with the rest of the mesh that is there. i also have remote start so lots going on under the dash.
if i get a controller, which is on order, will it come with this plug to plug into the blue one that is there already???
the last couple of controllers didn't come with any plugs , just wires to hard splice into existing or run your own.
thanks so far.

If your truck came with the towing package, it should have had a pigtail in the glove compartment (at least every 2nd gen truck I've owned did). This pigtail would have the mating plug on one end and wires to splice to your controller wires on the other. If you don't have one, you can pick them up at the dealer or any trailer hitch shop as well as many RV or other trailer dealers.

Just order a Brakesmart controller along with the wireing harness & you'll have everything you need & the best controller on the market IMHO.

ok, made it to the dealer today, and no body there knows what i am talking about for a plug that will hook up under the dash to hook up my brake controller.
any body here know the part number ???
they are telling me that i can't even order this plug, so if any one here knows where to get one, a part number, aftermarket or what not, please reply here or PM me as i want to get this done. if i have to order it from some body on this site, thats cool too, will send money order or whatever and pay for the shipping etc.
any help here would be great.

Check the RV dealers. Often they carry the pigtails.

I just brought my new truck home tonight. Here are the part numbers off of the bag the plug is in, there are 2 numbers on the bag, not sure which one you need:

P56045795AA

T-A140482AA1441

I hope this helps.

thanks for the info and part numbers, i will be States side friday, and i will be checking at the dealer there to see if they have or can get this plug for me, as the dealer here says he can not get it.
if any one reading this, has one that they know they are not ever going to use, and is for an 03 and up truck, i will buy it from you if i can't get one from the dealer.
Pm me if you want to sell it.
Thanks
