Black Streaks

What is the easiest way to remove black streaks from the side of the trailer without removing the paint.

I use liquid wax (turtle wax 2001), use it like a buffing compound.
Removes the black streaks and puts a coat of wax to help reduce future streaks.

Also use the liquid wax like you would for rain-x on the windows, work well.

I use Meguires spray wax. It also waxes as you go, and it can be applied wet.

Go to an rv dealer & get some black streak remover, it comes in a spray bottle & it removes streaks & bugs. Just spray it on wait a miniute hit it with a brush & hose it off.

I thought about the black streak remover, but for the money, the liquid wax goes a long way.

Diluted simple green or Black streak remover works well also.

... and thn look for the cause. When I started getting the black streaks, I climbed on the roof and found that the coating on the roof rubber needed redone. Not too hard to do, just time consuming.

I usually spray some Westley's tire bleach on it , hit with a brush and hose off.
If the trailer is going to sit for awhile try putting clip on wood clothes pins on gutter spouts to direct water from side , not perfect but it helps.

PistolWhipt brought up a good point. On that note, if the roof is full of crud, then its going to run down the side when it rains (black streaks), got to wash the roof. If your TT has rain gutters around the roof line, got to clean them out also.

Also keep the roof clean. This will help some with reducing the streaking.

I would be careful on what you use to clean the stuff off the paint ... especially on older trailers where the paint is oxidized.

I hit the black streaks on mine with plain old Simple Green and much of the paint came too !! Of course I haven't been the best at keeping the thing waxed and trying to preserve the paint either.

Hmmm ... clothespins on the gutters to divert the water. I could have used that tip a few months ago. Thanks !!!

Ok, I just did my whole trailer and it truned out awesome. I tried everything and nothing worked well until the guy who lettered my trailer showed me. It is at advance auto and its called Purple Power I believe. This stuff is awesome. I still had to use a little elbow grease but it was nothing like what I was trying. My trailer looks brand new.

They had it in spray bottles and 1 gallon jug. I bought the gallon and put it in a spray bottle I had.

if it was in a purple bottle and the liquid is purple it might be Castrol Superclean. That is what I use on my truck and it works to take anything off. But it will also dull or remove the paint.
