Best Mattress?

I'm shopping for a new mattress for the 5ver. I need a (short) queen. Is a firmer mattress better for back aches or a pillow top? Is a residential bed better than the RV beds?

I'm also going to buy something for the bedroom, thought about a Sleep Number adjustable bed. The kind of beds that uses air to adjust the firmness.

Thanks

Find a place that makes custom matresses. We had a great one built for $200 about 10 yrs ago. We think pillow top is the best. Be wary of the Sleep Comform. We bought one at a home show and long after the warranty found out they have a lower grade one. We won't spend big bucks on a mattress again! We'll go back to a good grade pillow top. Craig

Try Mattress Firm...30-day money back if you're not satisfied with it.

Tommy,

Select Comfort (aka Sleep Number bed) has an RV model in the 4000 series beds. As a chiropractor I highly recommend these beds.

Tommy,
If your RV mattress is firm and still flat, consider adding a 4" memory foam topper to it. I was ready to junk mine and thought, for the money, why not make my own pillow top. It sleeps almost as good as my $1500 set in our home. You can get the topper for about $100.

I have the select comfort, paid a little more to get the pillow top which consists of memory foam and have been very happy. Only problem is on the queen size it is only 1 air cell and the wife and I differ on the firmness desired. At home we have a king and our separate air cells and it couldn't be more perfect.

FYI: I thought I needed a short queen but a regular queen actually fit. It does slightly press against the dresser drawers with the slide closed but there is not enough pressure to cause any problems. I think the size is 60x80, measure and see what you think.

Here is a choice to look at. I love an air bed with two controls.

You may want to try & find a commercial foam store. You can get a combination of foam & memory for not a lot of money, will last forever(or close). Spring matress's will wear out, especially with big folks.

I recentley(last fall) bought a Queen size 3" memory foam pad from Sams wholesale for 89.00. we put it on top of the mattress in our home we had bought years and years ago.
i had intended to replace the old mattress soon after getting the memory pad but haven't felt the need to with the pad.

We'll I would have tried the 3" topper, but I've already threw the mattress away. I didn't think that through. Now I have to buy a new one.

I thought about a Sealy, they seem to be a quality mattress.

In the last couple of weeks, I've removed everything out of the 5ver that wasn't screwed down and painted the interior with texture paint, cleaned the carpets, oil the oak cabinets, installed flat screen tv, installed complete new brake assemblies, polished the wheels, waxed the camper, and installed new ouside lights and vents all in 95 degree weather. Also, I need to install the new Carrier 15 btu A/C.

Now I'm tired and ready to go camping.

We put a memory foam pad on our RV bed, something like $80 at WalMart. It's so much more comfortable than the Select Comfort we have in the house I'd almost rather sleep in the RV. The wife loves the Select Comfort, I've never been able to find a setting that is right. Hate the thing, even with a memory foam pad on it.

find a foam supply company in the yellow pages in your area. buy a slab of high density foam 5" thick and put a 3" piece of memory foam on it.
half (or less) the cost of a ready made matress and as comfy as you will be able to buy

My beds are custom made, and free as I work for a well known bedding company.
