Back from 6400 mile trip, 17 days

Well i took the new truck on my annual road trip, towing my 24ft toy hauler ( about 8000# loaded).

I left suffolk Va. went to Marysvale Utah, Then up to West Glacier Montana, and back down thru Wyoming and Nebraska and back home, I had agreat time except for the fuel prices, they were killing me, 199.9 Average i saw prices up to 250.9. The average MPG for the trip was only 9.9 cruising between 68-70 mph anything more than that millage really went to down 7.1-8.4, i'm not real happy, the old 93 would do the same trip getting 15mpg all day.

This was also the first trip with the TST PMCR installed, this box is awsome, on a hard climb with the box off egts would be 13-1400 degf., just turning the box on to 1-0, timming only would drop egts back to 1000 degf. bumping up to 2-2 and 3-2 i could acually accelerate up the same grade i could'nt maintane speed on with the box off, and i could do it keeping the maintaned egts less then 1200 degf.

The only thing that bugged me the whole trip was my 4" duals, pulling a grade or anytime the boost stayed over 20psi the noise was defning, i definetly have to get another muffler and put in line with this one to quit thing down.

...........................................What Did you say someting???

I forgot to mention Box off box on no differance in milage but set at 3-2 the overhead would read the same as hand calc, box off it's always 1 mpg low..

I am glad that you enjoyed the trip, but that is alot of driving to me. 6400 miles in 17 days is about 375 miles a day and that is about 6 hours of driving each day. When did ;you have time to see the different states? I hate driving even 4 hours a day, but thats just me, I want to see the country not drive past it. I don't mean to start nothing with this comments just my toughts when I see the data. Sorry and welcome back safe.

RickCJ,
I wish i could have, i drove the old 93 at 75 and above and still got 15+ MPG, The ride was rougher and it was like riding in a wind tunnel, but it got good milage and ran alot lower EGT's.

JAXFL1,
I spent the first 6 days in Marysvalle utah, the next 4000 miles were in the last week, i had to do more than i planned, alot of the passes up north were closed and the east exit from yellowstone was closed, all this caused allot of extra millage.

Would i give up the new truck........ NAAAAA!!!

What are ya'll getting for millage towing with a new 600??
And would a 5er be more aero dynamic??

Angry

Pulliing my TT @ 7800# at 60-65 on the flats of Florida I get 11.5 on a good day. That does beat the heck out of the 9MPG I got with my old Ford and a 5600# TT. But with the price of fuel going up like it is, it is almost a break even on cost now.
