Auxillary Fuel Tank

I am installing an auxilliary fuel tank in the bed of my truck to gravity feed to the main tank but I cannot find an electrically operated solenoid valve to start and stop the fuel flow. Anyone know where I can locate one. Need source and item number.
Thanks

Why not use manual - - sure cheaper, they don't break, easy to install, work great. I have had problems with my electric valves - - went manual this time - - love it.

When you have had that system leave you stranded in the middle of the desert and siphoning fuel from your aux tank, you have some questions as to whether it is the ultimate.

I like it simple. KISS principle always seems to win.

You can buy a pump for about $40. The rest is pretty easy if you don't use the electric valve. But, if you are going to put in a manual valve, why bother with the pump - - run it gravity.

I bought a "selector valve" rated for Diesel from my pro local auto parts store. Pep Girls and Autozone probably won't have this. It is the same sort of valve used by Fords gassers and others to switch back and forth between tanks. I plugged one outflow and used the other one which was activated when 12V+ was applied to the terminal (ground the body). You can tell by blowing into the intake and seeing which outflow is open @ no volts and again with 12 volts. I've had mine on for a few years, used a lot, and it still works perfectly.

My $236 aux fuel system works fine, thank you. 36 gallon main tank, 25 gallon aux tank in the bed, over to one side so I can still carry 2x4x8 lumber. Aux tank for less than $200 from Summit (a steel/poly racing tank), plumbing into the aux vent in the main tank, switch, wiring, fuel filter, and cheap generic electric fuel pump from Advance Auto, brass shut-off valve from Lowes.

I wait until the fuel gauge gets down to below half-a-tank, and then hit the switch and pump the fuel in from the aux tank. Takes about fifteen minutes as I drive.

33K on the system, two years old, no trouble. Carry a spare, cheap pump, and a fuel filter, just in case.

I like the sound of that setup.

Just built and installed 9'' x 15'' x 56'' tank (around 33 gallons). 4x8 -10 gauge floor plate steel $100.Fuel cap $23. Half inch tubing & valve plus some 3quarter inch stainless parts.(free scraps from work) Welder friend was paid $40 to weld it up. It fits under my toolbox, can still fit in the 4 wheeler, and room on the sides to get in fishing poles. Gravity fed. Just the ticket for me and pretty cheap.
