Anyone recommend changing shocks for towing?
I've got about 25,000 on my 04. So far I've done some minor hauling, and had my quad in the back a few times, other than that, the stock shocks seem ok. Next month I'll be hauling a trailer up to Northern Alberta. Depending on what trailer I haul, could be 5-7000 pounds, hopefully more coming back with Moose.
So any suggestions if the stock shocks are ok for medium towing, or should I look at changing them. If so, all 4 or just change the back out?

OK older truck, but my stock shocks were worthless. I changed to KYB and the empty load is much better compared to stock.
I don't tow, I haul as in 2,500 lb of camper which adds much more vehicle load than a trailer. The KYBs are very good with the camper. In fact, the ride is better with the camper.
I live in salt zone and an adjustable shock is pretty worthless after a winter unless you regularily keep the ***** free. Never tried the in-cab adjustables.

Stock shocks aren't horrible but they're too soft to control axle oscillation. I put a set of Monroe Reflex on our Durango. It had axle bounce and oscillation real bad. The Reflexes took it all out. Then my buddy put a set on his '03 2500. Makes a big difference in empty ride. Towing our 10,040 lb 5th wheel, our rides good. But empty it will almost change direction on some bad roads or RR tracks. I'll be putting a set on mine soon. For $44 each, I like the Monroe Reflexes. It's ok if you like something else.

I would stear away from the Reflex shocks. Anything made by Monroe will last at most 25K miles. I put them on my Tahoe on a good friends advice. (Towed a lot with it) They were great for the first year, but they crapped out fast. I hate Monroe. My first Vette came with them on it, and I thought the ride was just that harsh until I put Bilstiens on it. I was amazed at how well a real shock handles. Bilstien gets my vote.

Stock Shocks should do the trick just fine. I have stock shocks on my truck and pull a 9,000 lb fifth wheel and have had not problems. If you are going to be going on continual long hauls you may consider.
Good luck with the hunting and post your pics .....
Cheers.

240K on the truck, and judging by the fact that all of the mounts still have the original finish on them (and the shocks are Mopar), all shocks are still original! I will be changing them as soon as I have a chance. Ride is fine, including towing, but the shields are rusted off and I know the shocks aren't far behind. Obviously the drivetrain on my truck wasn't abused as much as the interior!
