Antifreeze In Tires?

I would like to know if anyone has ever put antifreeze in there truck or rv tires .My frend has been doing it for years and swears by it. He got a new ram a couple of years ago as soon as he got It home he pulled all of the wheel weights off and put 4oz. of antifreeze in each tire. He has run over 50,000 miles and his tires are wearing perfict. I know this for a fact because I was there when he did it..Years ago big rigs use to run a hula hoop looking thing with a big ball bearing inside of it clamped to the out side of the rim to keep them in check.

I don't recall anyone using antifreeze. Hopefully it is properly diluted as it would still freeze in extremely cold temps.

I do recall a device similar to what you are describing as the hula-hoop. The ones I saw were a gold or copper color and contained the ball or ***** so as the vehicle picked up speed the ***** moved to the location(s) where they needed to be. I don't know what ever became of these.

Yes, the big rigs do put a solution of Antifreeze & water in there tire for balance. Don't use straight water it will leave the tire when air warm up. (Don't ask but straight water dissappears).

Most tire dealers do have the proper stuff for this. It's used in a lot of different apps.

The 'hula-hoop' type of balance weights are still available. Saw them advertised just recently but don't remember where I saw them.

Just remembered where I saw these balance weights advertised.

There are some goods pictures there that show what they are.

Anyone have any first hand experience with these things? The concept sounds good, but I'd like to hear some real world feedback before seriously considering such an item.

On a side note, did you guys see that they also have similar balancers for the driveshafts? http://www.balancemasters.com/driveshaft%20illus.html
Might be something to look into for those of us with the now notorious 70mph vibe...

I've run an anti-freeze/water mix (50/50) in my off-road rig's tires for years... It made an unbearable tire (Swamper Boggers) somewhat bearable.

I'd still use rim weights for radials...
