That EBay source is priced too high.

I hate ebay, but heres what I found:

A couple places with better prices than that. Great Deals CAN be be found on EBay if you research the market prices thoroughly, but that one IS NOT a deal.

I didn't even think to look on Summit..

I'll be honest, I'm a cheapskate and $20 is $20, is there any reason to go with the Firestone over these guys kit, which is also available on Summit??

Seems the engineering on this wouldn't exactly be rocket science in this day/age, but I figured people here have used both, so either both would work or one would work.

Thanks for listing off those other sites, just assumed ebay'd be cheap, but I HATE ebay. Summit is cheaper too..

I had a 97 2wd and I used the airlift kit outside the frame - that's all there was then and it was great and had plenty of travel cuz I could choose where to drill. I have FS on my 03 inside the frame and had too little travel until I torched a little off the bottom bracket which put the bracket flat against the axle tube and gave them 3/4" more travel. I had to bend the left brake line a little but no biggie. Now they never bottom out on the bags. I left the center bolt out of the bottom of the bags so upward travel can't over stretch the bags. I also made an accumulator tank out of PVC. I used 3/8" air hose between the bags and the tank so the air can flow freely. That fixed the empty ride completely. It also made the loaded travel more progressive. Craig

So the Airlift isn't bolt on?

$20 is $20, but I'm lazy and don't feel like drilling too...

The airlift for my 97 was a drill-it-urself kit.

Bags

Mine were bolt on also. Marking for the holes and Drilling thru a frame is no fun. I would have payed $50 extra not to have to drill. Customer service is a big deal for me. It's like insurance.

If anyone is considering Airlift bags, I found these at Jegs for $235.99 http://www.jegs.com/i/Air+Lift/022/57295/10002/-1 (not including shipping and Tax) while looking for some other stuff. I was thinking about Firestone's but after a little more research, I might go with these instead.

Same here. Technically to answer your question about inside or out? My Firestone are mounted....mostly to the inside If the frame is 2" wide and the airbag is 6", the centerline of the bag is almost straight down from the inside of the frame. Honestly, I don't think it matters. The engineers have done their job.

OP -
if you have a choice (sounds like you do), then i would choose the setup that goes outside the framerail. this will probably give you a more stable ride as they will be a bit further apart (wider) from each other. it's a bit more work, but might be beneficial in the long run . . .

I purposely don't want the two bags to be connected. The bags will be progressive without the accumulator, in fact I would think it would be more progressive that way. If you are heavier on one side for some reason, you can't level. When the truck leans into turns it will let higher pressure flow to the wrong side. Just not seeing the advantages??
