Very nice!

I am about to start running a Gooseneck service trailer to replace my bumper pull cargo trailer >>> I am going to have to get or build one for that... I have one for towing a bumper pull trailer and I Love it!...

Any trailer with electric brakes has to have one, regardless of configuration.

Nice job Alcorr, excellent video.

First, I would like to say that I'm not against air bag hitches, But it only goes to prove my biggest complaint; The first thing anyone should be spending the money on is to improve the suspension on the trailer and NOT the hitch, sure the truck rides nice an smooth with that air bag hitch, but try taking a ride in that trailer and then tell me what you think about a air bag hitch. You would wish you spent that money on up-grading the trailer suspension. If the trailer would ride as smooth as the truck did there would be no need for that air bag hitch.

The amount of bumping the trailer goes through is plain scary! I think you are 100% right, trailer suspension is in dire need of improvement. What trailer is this?

I agree if i could get my flat bed trailer to ride smoother it woud be such a piece of mind when i have show cars and odd ball loads like powder coated hand rails and stair cases and towers for boats. But the hitch is nice to

Al, I agree one should consider the suspension when buying a fiver. However, have you riden up front in a fiver without the air hitch even with MORryde IS suspension on it? Not very comfortable. Rides nice in the back, but terrible in the front. After experiencing major kingpin framing collapse while in Alaska (to the tune of over $4000 fortunately covered by Carriage even when out of warranty - - thank you Carriage), I am completely sold on the air hitch. In fact, the one I purchased has four air bags allowing movement in all directions, not just up and down. It dramatically decreases the chucking in the ride which again cushions not only the truck but the twisting action on the kingpin framing from the lurching. I rode in the fiver again up front after the installation of the air hitch - - wow, what a difference. If I were choosing one or the other, I would chose the air hitch - - but remember, that is MY opinion based on MY experience, not someone else's. We each have our priorities. I am totally sold on having both upgraded suspension AND the air hitch.

I'm with Bob....

The Driving experience counts for a lot also... I understand the need for a better suspension and if you tow a lot then you should consider it >> But the Air Hitch improves the ride in the truck and give you back so much comfort and control that I wouldn't want to be without it... Although I experience is with bumper style >> I can imagine that would translate to fivers and Goosenecks as well.

I've towed quite a few units with both the MorRyde system and and an air pin box setup. That combination makes a world of a difference as compared to units without either.
I had seen (passed) a truck with a flatbed body and an air 5th wheel hitch and had to slow up just to watch it. Looked interesting, but I was wondering about all the bouncing around movement of the trailer in the video. The truck I saw was on an interstate and the trailer was only bouncing up and down over the expansion joints of the concrete. In the video that thing is really hopping around. What kind of lifespan do those bags on the hitch have??? It really seems unstable as far as the trailer's ride. I realize that most of that movement is absorbed by the truck with a standard 5th wheel hitch but I think I would be very nervous watching the front of my trailer bouncing around like that going down the highway.

Scott,
I considered that too as I watched the movement in my hitch in my rear view mirror. Then, I saw a video of what was really happening as taken from the side view. The truck is doing most of that bouncing up and down, not the trailer. That is what is so good. The actual movement in the front of the trailer is much less because it does not have to follow the truck as it goes up and down in the dips. The response from the trailer is not forced as it is in the solid hitch up. In the solid hitch the truck drops and pulls the trailer down with it - - likewise back up. In the air hitch, the truck drops reducing support to the trailer, so the trailer starts to drop - - but by that time the truck is moving back up and cushions that drop in the trailer making the actual movement up and down in the front of trailer quite less than the truck is doing. It is important to maintain good shocks on the air hitch to eliminate bouncing just like on the suspension.

My air bags are Firestone and carry a ten year replacement guarantee. I keep the hitch covered when not in use to keep the sun off the bags.

Do yourself a favor and look closely at the Air Safe Hitch in the 25K configuration. It has a Holland head on it. Once you look at that head and compare to the normal Reese style head you will never look back. The difference in the positive hitchup is amazing. It is patterned after the over-the-road truck hitches and has huge jaws. This eliminates all slop in allowing the pin to move up and down in the jaws.
