7 pin connector question
I am installing a 7 pin connector in the bed of my new Dodge 3500, The new plug has a pig tail with 7 wires and the truck has 8 wires that are different colors than the new plug, To save me testing time does any one have the correct hookup?
Thanks

I'm assuming your NEW RV receptacle has a violet, red, brown, blue, white, yellow and green leads. How many white leads?
Use your meter if the colors are different. and ohm out for continuity if you're not sure which wires are which on your new receptacle.
The Dodge white w/pink tracer is right turn, connects to green lead on new.
The Dodge violet w/black tracer is backup lites, connects to the violet lead on new.
The Dodge violet w/red tracer is +12vdc for charging the gel cel trailer break-away battery connects to red lead on new.
The Dodge black w/orange tracer is taillights connects to the brown lead on new.
The Dodge blue wire goes to the trailer brakes blue wire on new.
The Dodge yellow w/pink tracer is left turn connects to the yellow lead on new.
The Dodge black wires (they're two) connect to the same ground lug underneath the right taillight and connect to the white lead(s) on the new.
Does that cover it? or are there orange wires on the new receptacle?

Before you go any farther, you should do a continuity check to verify which wire goes to which pin on the new receptacle. Then match the pin with the function listed on the cover on your Dodge receptacle. That way you'll know before you start stripping wire which lead on the new receptacle does what.

The new plug that I just installed in the bed has as follows:
Red=lft turn,stop
White=Ground
Green=Running
Black=Bat. charger
Blue=Elec. brakes
Brown=Rt. turn,stop
Yellow=aux
The factory harness has 8 wires and are colored different than the new plug harness, I can run a continuity check on the truck but was hoping that you could tell me what wires go where.

Are you checking continuity by touching the prongs on the inside of the receptacle with one lead while touching the other end to the bare wire end while the receptacle is oriented the same as the one on the truck? Don't be offended I just wanted to make sure the new receptacle is oriented the same.
The factory receptacle has two black ground wires.
