68* sunday & got caught without my engine fan while towing
<br><br> well i took my clutch/fan off the truck when we had a cold snap here back in early october-<br> its been the typical midwest winter, 19 degrees for a few days, and one week later, it gets up to 40ish, then the following week is 19 degrees again-<br><br> welp, this past weekend was 40's friday, 50's saturday, and got up to our record high of 68 degrees sunday ;D<br><br>i had picked up a 7500# bobcat mini excavator from work on friday and i've towed in the 40 degree weather with no fan and had no problems with overheating-<br><br>well sunday rolls around and i needed to take the machine back [30 miles] cause my buddy was finished putting in a new water line to his house, except it was 68* out, and more stuff in the bed .<br><br>total weight was an easy 16,500 # and it never got over 190!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br><br> i did baby it some cause i was concerned about the ambient temp and the weight i was hauling, but this ole dodge sure does impress me the more i drive it!!<br><br>anyone else take their fan off when it gets cold out??

My friend took his off this winter and has not had a temp problem yet. He tows a 4 horse trailer every weekend. He just got back from the Maysville stock yards with two horses and never had a problem even when comming back into Ohio and going up a long steep hill.<br>DM01

All the fan does is pull air through the radiator and intercooler... the only time you should need it is if you are sitting still or driving slow (traffic!). At highway speeds you could probably drive forever without at fan.. but catch a red light or two.. hehehe

I run fanless from October to March. The truck feels like it picks up 10-15 HP without the fan ;D The other benifits are quicker warm ups and a noticeable reduction of noise in the cab.

TRAFFIC JAM-<br> while towing down to arkansas a few months ago, i got caught in ST.
