5th Wheel advice

Wife and I are looking for a 5th wheel that I can pull with the truck list below. We can spend around 20k. We know we like the Rear living room but other than that I don't know about which manufacture would be one or a turkey!

KC

Re:5th Wheel advice

My wife and I purchased a nice '98 Sporsmen 2456P last summer for about $12k. The trailer had only been licensed once in '99. Do a search of different mfg's and look at the floor plans then go to a dealer and look for yourselves. You should not have any problems pulling any trailer you find. AQlso try going to RV forums and see what else you can find out.
Tom

We have a Forest River and love it. I agree with Mn Tom, do a search on the Web, than go and look at the dealer. Don't worry about pulling it with your truck, it will smile and ask for more.
Big dawg

Re:5th Wheel advice

Like the others said, do a search and some research. My wife and I bought our first one after going to the RV shows for a while. This gave us a chance to compare features, dealers, and prices, floorplans, etc. Our first one was a Nomad by Skyline, our second is in the signature below. The Sprinter is a good trailer, but we will go back to the Nomads on our next purchase as a matter of personal preference. If you compare most of the current name makers (Keystone, Skyline, Jayco, etc.) you will find them to be competetive for the features you want/need, so it becomes a choice of personal preference more than anything else. My wife and I like the way Skyline uses the internal space and they are the only ones that we know of that go to the extra effort of having their trailers UL certified, and weigh each one as it comes off the assembly line so the weight tag is accurate. Good luck.

Re:5th Wheel advice

Forest River bought Cobra and got their Salems, Sandpipers etc. They don't build Sunrises as far as I know. This will sound dumb, but check to see if the vinyl flooring covers aALL the floor and not just the part you see. When you have a leak or a spill, it's easier to clean and less likely to stink. Also when I looked at one brand (not one mentioned here, I found that the upper cabinets were about 1/2 inch too small to hold a standard dinner plate flat. Its the little stuff that will drive you nuts. The majot mfg.s don't build junk in general. Otherwise, they wouldn't be major. Appliances should be from major mfg.s as well. Parts availibility. And I agree that you can tow it if you can hook it. Rick

Re:5th Wheel advice

I just bought a 30 foot travel trailer buy r-vision they make trail lite trailers and thumper versions. I am extremely happy with the quality and the way it tows. Its light weight, comfortable and the insulation is fantastic! Its sealed in the bottom so the air flow goes through smooth and its great for winter vacations. They have 5th wheels also that are great. Once they make the thumper version of 5th wheels I will be trading up. I have the thumper version of the travel trailer.
The price is great for the quality of the unit. You should be able to get one "new" at that price range.

Good luck.
