Goober, Welcome Aboard. You can pull in 5th, and you can pull in 4th. Pull in the highest you can where you're not lugging it. 6500 lbs isn't much.

Also take a moment and fill out your sig block so folks know a little more about your truck. What gears are you running?

Im not sure what gears i am running. Other than rotating the drive shaft and counting how many times it take to make one rotation of the tire. Is there a code in the vin or something.

There probably is something in the VIN, but I don't know/remember what it is. Jacking it up and rolling the driveshaft is a good way to do it.

But this may work; when running down the highway at 2000 rpm, how fast are you going?

Assuming you've got standard tires on a 4x4 like mine (I don't know what your truck is), and:
If you're doing about 61 or so, you've got 4.10's;
If you're doing about 67 or so, you've got 3.73's.

I tow 7k often and haven't found it to be a ploblem yet. Depends on how much your truck is still stock. Knowing your mods helps give a better answer.

2000RPM=60mph. Looks like i have 4.10's

Right now my truck is bone stock. I feel i need some more TQ and i wish the turbo would kick in a little sooner. It is spooling at 1400 wish it would be fully spooled at 1400-1500

If you would like to know for SURE the gear ratio of your truck, call the place where you purchased your truck or pretty much ANY Dodge dealership, have your VIN ready and the approximate number of miles on the vehicle and they will do a VIN search for you and tell you. I was skeptical as to what my gear ratio was because I THOUGHT I had 3.73s, then I noticed I wasn't running the same RPMs as the others with 3.73s, so I called the dealer and the let me know that I indeed had the 4.10s.

You can just open your glovebox and read the sticker to see what gears you have. I've found that to be much easier than stringing the drive shaft or having dealers do searches. Eric

If you have the 5-speed then your truck is probably the Standard Output model which is 250HP. Should be plenty to pull what you have but you can add a little more power with a small performance box without worrying about hurting the truck. Make sure to add an EGT gauge to keep from melting things.
