My uncle told me that if you run in most warm to hot weather, and it is an E rated tire, a person could run a 16 tire on a 16.5 rim. I would say no to that. Opinions ?

 

Don't do it! The tires even have warnings on the sidewall warning against mounting 16's on 16.5" wheels.

 

I'd also would not to do it. Though the warnings I've seen were running a 16.5 inch tires on a 16 inch rim....

The warnings are to not mount the 16.5 on a 16 rim as stated above. A 16 tire would not come off a 16.5 rim to easily

wishing I had pics from about three weeks ago, when a local tire guy tried to seat a 16 on a 16.5

It blew up, right through the bead, and zippered up the sidewall to the tread.

 

This is why they have been doing away with the 16.5" wheel. Don't do it.

 

Common since says NO..... I say do it. Make sure tell us how it works out. We'll be happy to read how dumb you uncle was!!

 

first I would say that it would be a tough fit to get it on, second I would say that it would be risky, and third I bet it would be out of balance or out of round some how. I won't do it of course but we'll see what he does, hopefully it won't hurt anyone
