Emissions discussions?

Just want to make a comment about the recent ban on emission discussions... Talking about defeating emissions is not illegal; Nothing in the Clean Air Act prohibits discussion of this, and you are expressly protected by freedom of the press, freedom of scientific research, and freedom of speech under our constitution.

You also have vendors who currently SELL products that, to one degree or another, violate various state and federal laws around emissions, noise, etc. By banning discussions you are doing them a great dis-service, and doing your users even a greater dis-services.

word, might want to edit the text with correct spelling if you want to be taken seriously, not DPF's and CAT's.

I've said this for a long time and still I don't get where they draw the line here. Killing someone is also illegal but by discussing how to do it you’re not breaking any laws. A DPF/CAT laying on the shop floor is doing just as much in reducing pollution as one on a truck with modified fuel/air systems. IMO they're both rendered worthless by the operator. Now is removing or tampering with emission control devices illegal? Yes, but since when in America is talking about it? If the owners/operators of this site just don't want discussion like that on here, fine. But let's call it what it is, it's not illegal, it's your form of censorship. Which is fine, it's your railroad and you can run it as you wish, however it irritates me when they close a thread claiming it's illegal when it's not. The perfect solution to the problem would be to point out that actually tampering with the devices is illegal and the following posts are to be for educational purposes only. The blanket CYA statement. Speeding is illegal also but I bet if I say I was blowing smoke driving 150mph I doubt the thread would be immediately shut down and the FBI called.

True statements, however, the point is, and it seems pretty clear to me, that the owners of this website do not want to be connected to this in any way, no matter what form it is in. I can take a simple hint, and see the meat and potatoes of the situation.

Could it possibly be, that, they have already been warned about this particular subject from the powers above, and this is why they are so touchy about it, and word it certain ways? Who knows? I would love to talk about removing stuff to make my truck run faster, or sound better, but it looks like we will not be talking about it here.

Liability. Don't want to take the chance. Rules of the forum. If other forums allow it go there to discuss it, not here. Simple as that. Leave well enough alone.

Quite frankly I love the site and how it is run. With all of the "freedoms" you talked about you also have the "freedom" to start your own web site. While I agree with you as to the discussions, I am also reminded of the forum rules. Re-read the rules that you agreed to when you signed on here.

We have explained this in the past and nothing has changed.

Please respect our forum rules or feel free to buy a couple servers and some software and set up your own website. If you do, we promise to abide by YOUR rules while surfing there.

well its only illegal if we talk about driving on the road with it. but what about the many sled pullers we have that are ilegal to drive on a road, but we talk about that?

to me it's easy, "i took it off for off-road use only"

It's your site, do with it as you please. I have no problems taking the discussion to another site, but I do find it ironic that almost all your vendors sell products that are "illegal" and their banners appear on every page load but talking about their products is banned.

Your site. Your rules. Got it.
