12v Performance and Accessories???
#2
That depends on what generation Ram you have. The 1st gen guys have everything (non-drivetrain, drivetrain, and high performance) under one forum. 2nd gen 12 valve have it lumped in with the 24V high performance. As far as I know it has always been that way.

At the request of our resident First Gen guru/moderator, Wannadiesel,
the Performance/Accessories section is just 2nd gen, which includes 94-98 12 valve engines, and 98.5-2002 24 valve engines, since they share the same body style.
The 1st Gen. section is now for all things 1st Gen, since they are unique in both body style and power modifications.
It's kinda always been that way, only the noobs were posting in the big Performance section,
and usually being ignored by us snobby 2nd gen owners

Yep. That forum is confusing enough with both 12 and 24 valve trucks. Ideally it would be split it into three forums- 12 Valve Performance, 24 Valve Performance, and Aftermarket Accessories. JMO, of course.

problem is, that I see that the 1st gens have only one thread for everything, i kinda feel that they should all be equal, IE 1st gen drivetrain, first gen no drivetrain, first gen performance, etc etc etc..
But also, the first and second gen 12V engines are somewhat different (pump is all i can think of at the moment) so i can see why they have a seperate forum.
I happen to also think that the way they have it second gen performance is great! Many questions apply for both 12V and 24V, especially along the lines of the drivetrain and whatnot. Plus i dont get as bored and it furthers my education of the 24V engine. I think that its right on as we speak. Besides, the 12V, due to it bein mechanical, although a power monster in its own right, is downright limited on performance parts. A 24V is sort of like a dime a dozen,
I dont mind seein a change if it does happen (bottom line i guess) BUT i also like things the way they are. The site is super simple to work around, very user friendly, and not too many tabs to overwhelm people.. U guys done it right!..

I agree with TXdiesel007, the 12V is a power monster.

You don't need a lot of parts or money to make insane power from it. That is probably why there is a limited number of aftermarket parts. a gsk, dvs, 370s, and a plate, and you already have more fuel than a 24V guy will spend 3000 to have. Between the lift pump, new VP44, injectors, and stacked boxes you need, you already saved enough money to fab up a set of twins for a 12V.
