DIY trans. service

Just completed a trans. service on a 2005 48re, Thought I,d share some things about my procedure. First a trip to Kragen picked up Valvoline atf+4 @ 3.49 a qt. Fram filter ft1206 total $80.35. Picked up a inch pound torque wrench from sears $89.00.Still under dealers quote for trans.service @ $220.00.Here we go.. Drained pan and removed filter {t 25 torx}.First thing I noticed is that the adjuster inside is not a torx but a 1/4" six sided socket,so I came back to the forums and found a post that had a link with picks of the adjuster just to make sure I was looking at the rite thing{all the posts I read did not mention the six sided socket} The lock nut is a 15mm went through the procedure 72" pounds minus three turns and torque to 25 ft pounds to re lock. Replaced filter and re torqued to 35" pounds.Replace pan , Did outside band adj.{# t30 torx} 72 pounds minus 1and 3/4 turns re torque the locknut to 30 ft pounds {3/4 six sided socket} then I removed the rear line on the trans.,connected a 5/8 hose to the end with hose clamp. filled the trans with six qt's,started in neutral and pumped 1 gal. out, filled again with 4 qt,s pumped another gal.filled again w/ 3 qt,s and pumped another gal...Then replaced the line on rear of trans. put 1 qt in and drove around the neighborhood using all the gears and reverse, After checking the level when warm I added 2 more qt,s for a total of 16 qt,s and the level is perfect rite in the middle of the OK.I'd say that's a full flush.I'd like to thank this forum for the info I compiled from a few different posts with special thanks to rockittboy and jwooden for their posts. I hope this helps some of you other guys diy and save some bucks.

i change mine every year, I supply the filter and they supply the trans oil all for $21.99 at National Transmission. This way I don't have to worry about back flushing techniques and all that stuff. Just keep it clean like the oil and fuel filter. The dealer quoted me nearly $400.00 for a trans service!

one tonne, how long of a 5/8 hose did you use? Is there a lot of pressure, does the fluid coming out the hose splash out to where you have to cover the top of the bucket?
How long did you run the motor to pump out 1 gallon?
Sorry for all the questions.

Got any pictures of this ?

Thanks
