ZOOM Clutch
Does anyone have any experience with ZOOM ceramic clutches? I`m in need of a clutch for my 01` HO. The one I was thinking of is a ZVT Variable Torque ceramic.
Yes I know there are better ones out there ,but I`m on a tight budget and only tow 8,000lbs. about 3,000 mi.s a year. Also whats involved in relpacing the front seal on a NV5600? And where would you get one?

Try www.quad4x4.com for the front seal.

I have a buddy that put one in his truck about 1.5 years ago, nice clutch holds his power well (around 450ish) but for towing it is a tad bit grabbier than I would like. Call up Dan at ValAir, he can get you a clutch that holds the power AND is smooth I know because I have one!

I would not get a ceramic clutch for street use. Others on Cummins forums have had premature flywheel and pressure plate wear. I have used ceramic brake pads and they destroyed my rotors. In my opinion ceramic is only good for competion use.

The fe is good for street use but unless your pushing 500+hp I'd stick with the OFE. A lot better street manners. The fe is a grabby clutch.
pvkj454, I've used ceramic brake pads before and those were nicer on my rotors than the non ceramic ones so I dunno bout that.

i dont get the ZOOM clutches...they say that will hold more torque as RPM increase due, but what about motors that make all their tq around 2000rpms and then start to die off above that...how is that clutch gonna last there?
peter at south bend gets my vote. i tried to go cheap and bought a LUK cerametallic clutch first. $500 as opposed to the $1000 SBC. in the end i had a ruined flywheel and pressure plate, and i then bit the bullet and paid the price for a SBC dual disk that i have yet to find a way to slip
