yucky straight pipe
i just finished straightpiping my stock exhuast with 3" piping. It sounds kinda farty but i like the responsiveness. I'm thinking a small muffler will tone things down a little. Could somebody suggest a good muffler that will give me a nice tone and get rid of the farty noise?

When I did mine I liked it at first, but then I got a little tired of the noise at 80mph.... So I just put the resinator back on with out the muffler.... (better check the spelling on that one ;D) I love it now still sounds good, but just a little quieter on the freeway.... ;D

I don't know how a straight piped truck sounds from inside the cab, but they all sound terrible, from the outside, as they go down the road. Like a earky '50s dual piped Chev 6 with glass packs IMO.

SilverDiesel,

Any good "diesel" muffler will help your situation. I say diesel muffler because a lot of folks have used a performance gas muffler in the past and been very unhappy. I prefer a straight thru muffler with quality packing, like we do in our complete replacement system muffler, ceramic blankets and stainless steel wool are the best available materials and are what we use.

You knwo the next step thought don't you? You'll like this enough that you'll be wanting to change out the entire system next. If that happens call us and we'll be glad to answer any questions you might have etc.

Mark Craig
DPPI

I dont understand some people the 4" pipe and the silencer ring is like music to my ears. I dont see how some think that straight pipe ending at the axle or even past that is too loud. On my it will end at the cab. Just 4" to there and thats it. Might make a few people alittle > but oh well. 8)

SD03

I had a friend do my system. Got a Borla 3 inlet/dual 2 1/2 out. Good low tone and will really talk under load. Turbo sounds good and got much faster spoolup. I'm happy.

I'm telling you. Straight down pipe is WAAAAAAAAY to loud. You can barely hear the subs over it. Now that's loud.
