CaTCHER stands for Clutch and Traction challenger...

Believe me, on a perfect, dry road traction is not a problem. On anything else from moist to water and snow the CaTCHER is enough on a stock truck to make you go sideways....anytime.
The torque comes in soon and strong enough ...
It's not the right toy for the winter.

Well if we talk about #'s Hp wise it's about the same level. Numbers don't always tell you everything...
The CaTCHER comes alive much sooner than any box.

A word of caution. A few people have reported that with the drag comp set on 5X5 they loose hp in the top Rpm range.
The picture is not completly clear yet. Some loose hp some gain a little. I don't know for sure yet why that is.

One question though is the top end fueling the same with the box on as it would be now or does the MAD ECM fuel harder all the way to redline?

The CaTCHER fuels harder up to redline than a stock ECM anyway it seems that stacked with boxes there are a few trucks that have problems ( see above).

Marco I think you misunderstood. I park my truck all winter long because it is a SHOW truck and I don't use it at all if its raining or anything. So that's why I park it and mod it in the winter. My truck has never seen snow. I currently have

Edge Drag comp
EDM 2.5's
B1KS turbo
4" exhaust
scotty Intake
Wildcat fuel system
Gauges etc..
Full DTT tranny

My truck can handle your catcher. Like I said its not if I buy one but when. I would like some testomonial on how much sooner power comes on though then a box for lag and smoke issues as well. Can it come on that much sooner then my comp box?

so is this an actual ecm?? Because the picture i seen it looks like the edge ez in a different casing.

Looks like they didn't take a pic of it. I never had one in my hands but an ECM looks differently.

Hey Marco do you by chance know whether the stock ECM on a 98.5 does generate the APPS signal for the PCM or is it only hardwired voltage from the APPS input to the output?
(pin 25 to pin28)

I believe you when you say that your truck CAN handle the CaTCHER! What I meant to say was that the CaTCHER ain't the right toy to play with on slippery roads. Belive me, been there done that several times. I've always been lucky...

Anyway, it SEEMS that there is some sort of incompatibility CaTCHER/Comp. I think that could be caused by the added timing from the CaTCHER. I'm working with a few guys on it...

Other than the Comp, your mods are perfect for the CaTCHER.

The ECM tells the PCM about the throttle position through the CCD bus. Pin's ??? don't know. I'm @ home now, I don't have the documentation here with me. I'll look it up tomorrow and shoot you a PM.

I drove with the catcher last night for 75 miles in the snow, pulling a trailer..I found it to be more controllable that the stock ecm, mainly because it made power below 40 mph that didn't wait for a turbo to spool..Before, you'd lag along then it would suddenly kick in around 35-40 mph..Now the power is there from the get go...I liked the catcher in the snow..maybe 'cause I have a Ca. CARB model?? any difference?

Now for those of you who only run 8 ply truck tires..I'm running a tire for the winter only from 'Nokian"..its a finnish all weather tire...If anyone knows anything about the snow, its the finns..anyway, its a "P" rated tire, 4ply..not for heavy towing..Has a nice soft ride..I know, I know, our trucks are too heavy for it, but its well within the tires wt capacity..Anyway, it gripped snow like nothing I've ever drove. I had to really try to break it loose, even in 2wd...Just my 2c worth...They'll come off in the spring..

WOULD THE ADDED TIMING OF AN EDGE COMP AND THE ADDED TIMING OF THE CATCHER BOOST TIMING EXTREMLY HIGH AND CAUSE PROBLEMS

Just curious...

Since doing a VB transmission upgrade.

My Auto has been performing well with the EDGE EZ.

If I were to replace the EZ with a Catcher ECM...

Should I expect a similar amount of strain on the transmission ?

Since the the CaTCHER lights up sooner than a box, it is harder on the tranny than the EZ.

If I were to upgrade, I'd want to keep my stocker for possible visits to the Dealership.
