Yikes!!! MAD "Catcher" ECM in..

Yeeow...

This things ferocious...With the TST box off, it runs like its on level 9...No lag at all..Hits right now, like Holyfield on Tyson's head..

Then I turned the box back on...Wheelspin thru 2nd gear shift..on level 3..Afraid to go above that..EGT's are high..15-1600 and climbing..I Need air..(Piers, did you get my email yet???)

Most impressive is the absence of lag..Will now launch with anything. No brake stands, or waiting for spoolup to hit...Will now just pin ya to the seat...And keeps pulling. All thats missing is the lag. Overall power feels the same. Just hits sooner...

Can hardly wait to hit the dunes with it.. A 7700 lb sand rail.

Thanks Bob & Marco for a very easy modification..30 min install..

Did you deal directly with Marco or go through a vendor? If a vendor, which one?

Since he thanks Bob, I would imagine he got it through Bob Wagner.

Fuel mileage with the "catcher" E.C.M.

How does the new E.C.M. affect your fuel mileage?

It doesn't...Unless you stick your foot in it..On the hwy, I run the box "off" and its just the injectors..I'm still getting 20-21 mpg at 65 mph..

Like any of these mods, if its fueling hard, your mileage suffers. But with the box off, and a controlled foot, it still gets good mileage if you don't mind going 65..

Whats really fun are fwy onramps..

Gang,

Overall power feels the same. Just hits sooner...

Compared to what?

Without boxes on my truck ( just the injectors and the HX 40 ) I can hit 26 Psi with a stock ECM. With the CaTCHER the boost climbs up to 38 Psi. ( Empty, level road, running through the gears up to redline in OD). The power IS there, not just sooner.

Is it different for you?

Thanks,

Marco

Just what does teh MAD do? How does it function? What does it hook to? what parameters is it modifying. What's it's safety for the engine? What output increase numbers is it spec'd to produce? What trucks does it fit?

The catcher is a reflashed ECM. You can read all about it on the TDR. It replaces your stock ECM with one that's been reflashed. Suppose to give great throttle response and about the same power increase as an EZ. Guys who have it seem to say nothing but good things.

You can call Doug @ Advanced Diesel Technology http://www.smokindiesel.com. Or call Bob Wagner he sells stock ECMs so you won't be down. Prices are on the website. It ain't cheap, but nothing is cheap when your talking HP.

I'll let Marco & Bob tell ya how its works, cost, etc..Its quite an improvement..

Marco -

You're exactly right..With my TST box off, I get 36 psi of boost with the catcher ECM..With it on, it jumps to 44..It feels to me like the power curve has moved to be more responsive right off the bottom..No lag time..Maybe I'm using the wrong terms, but I run a similar item on my racing motorcycles. Its a hotter ignition that alters the power curve to hit sooner & harder...I'm guessing thats what the catcher ECM is doing..Allowing it to fuel and advancing the timing just enough to create a harder hitting motor right off idle. Eliminates that annoying 24v lag from a standing start. Am I on the right track?

Moose, I do have cores, so your truck would have no down time.
