y-pipe under the bed for stacks??

I have a flatbed and i want stacks. However my truck is a work truck and i dont want to take up the space in the bed for the y pipe. i was thinking i could run the y pipe under the bed then i remembered the fuel tank. : Has anybody done this? The fuel tank and the exhaust pipe kinda has me worried. lol thanks alot guys

I have seen it done with flexpipe over the fuel tank and a good heatshield between the flexpipe and the fuel tank. So it can be done.

If your flatbed has a channel running the length of the bed on top of the frame, you can notch the channel to run your pipes through.

You dont have to have a Y. You could have a piece of round or square 4" tube.

i wish it had the channel under it. but of course mine aint gunna be that easy. i guess ill jsut run it on top of the bed. And like ds1rider said ill get me a peice of 5 inch tube and run it the width of the bed and have a 90* elbow runnin up to that from the exhaust and then cut 5'' holes in the end of it and weld the stacks in it. then build somthing out of expanded metal to put around it. ill prolly put the miters on it how do yall keep the water out of em??

My first set I used galvie 1/4 wall for the crossover box, and when I attached the head pipe underneath, I ran it up into the crossover box about 3/8 inch. I don't worry about the rain, it puddles in the galvy, and won't run into the head pipe because it's higher than the bottom of the inside of the box tube. Any water burns off pretty quick. Now when I redo it in nice tight 90's and Y's, I'll come up with something diferent of course.

I've seen an install that was done at Jannetty Racing. He splits his stacks under the truck. I don't remember exacty how he does it but I'm sure he has a kit. BTW, from what I remember it was a pretty clean installation.
