WOW! Check this out

A friend of mine sent me a link to this company. This system would be a definite help to all the trucks equipped with Double Disc clutches. This system will reduce the drivetrain noise caused by the non-dampened clutch discs.

If they are like other Fluidamprs, they will be pricey. A FD for a small block goes for ~$450.

For a Cummins, they probably want ~$600+

I like these!

We tried the fluid filled Marine damper years ago. Not a direct fit though. The Cummins stock damper is a two piece unit with an elastomer (rubber) layer between the two pieces.

I have had 3 customers with 24 V engiens that use the redline box have the two piece stock units from Cummins come apart. Nothing exploded, but the potential is there.

The idea behind the fluid damper is twofold. SFI approval for increased RPM durabilty and the fluid dampers just work better to quell harmonics in nearly all cases.

The 5.9 is internally balanced. Inherently. Its a I-6! You dont buy this thing for balance. Thought I would toss that out there cuz I get lots of folks who think these are an engine balancer of some sort. Not for the Cummins anyway. Its a hamonic control device. Vibration control of sorts. Hence the rubber layer used on the stock unit.

I dont see this as the fix to a double disk clutch rattle though. They just rattle. It may help some though.

Don, I am not talking about the DD clutch noise when the clutch pedal is depressed (that would be the centerplate). We are hoping to muffel the idle clatter created do to the non dampend clutch discs.
