Would a 4" exhaust under truck make stacks sound better?

Hi, my truck currently has the factory exhaust but straight piped (no muff or rez) then a crossbox in the bed with 5" stacks. Bought it like this and don't get me wrong it sounds good but I've heard trucks that seem so much louder than mine. I was wondering if I had a full 4" straight pipe under the truck from the turbo to the elbow where the stacks go up if it would make them louder? Or would it even be worth the time, money, and effort for something that doesn't make much difference? Thanks

By popular "what sounds good" standards yes it would in my opinion..As long as your moving the more freely flowing air I don't think it's anything to lose sleep over but I might be wrong.

Having 4" all the way will give the truck a deeper sound to it.

Thanks for the replies. So basically I just need a 4" downpipe and then a length of 4" straight. So where do you buy this stuff? Big truck shop?

it depends on how you want to do it. Maybe a muffler shop would make a down pipe for you or ud have to order one from somewhere online. the straight pipe is easy a mufflershop should definetly be able to do that for you no problem.

Bingo! I had a 4inch exhaust system into 6 inch stacks before i blew my turbo last summer... I went with the PDR HX40 turbo so I had to do away with the factory exhaust neck after the turbo... I decided to run PDR's down pipe into 5 inch through the bed into 6 inch stacks... No muffler or Rez.. World of difference.. Way deeper tone, a lot louder.. and while cruizin on the highway at about 2100RPM's If i put it down it will rap so hard it makes my overhead councel vibrate so much i have had passengers hang onto it as they thought it was going to fall off into their lap... Oh did I mention the fun under over-passes or in tunnels???

I did a 4in from the turbo back no cat no muff, single out the back if it was any louder I would hate it. verry deep and when I'm on the highway I love the ecoh I get when I pull next to those gasers with there yapping duel pipes, the look on their face is priceless

I would ditch the crossover box and put a ypipe kit in it, that will make it sound much better i have 5 inch turbo back up to a 5 ypipe and stacks it sounds nice and with the 5 inch under the truck it makes it more quiet in the truck cab

I got all my exhaust parts at napa, adapters to larger pipe 90 degree elbows and the pipe. I bought 4 90 s and cut two down and made my own Y pipe.
