WOOHOO! The Project is Done

Well guys I got it running tonight but haven't had a chance to drive it as there are still a couple of things I need to button up tomorrow.
First though I would like to pay special thanks to everyone out at Peak Diesel for their extra effort, its a new shop but it works on the old values of customer service
What started out as a routine head gasket job 3 weeks ago turned into a complete overhaul for a few reasons.
1) I wanted to try out this new MLS gasket that Harry worked his butt of to get
2) The old motor was down right ugly and needed to be cleaned and painted
3) the deck surface was in awful shape and it felt wrong not cleaning it up.

Here's a picture of the Cometic installed

Here's one of the way Piers delivered it to my house
( He even gave me a hand landing it on the motor mounts
I think he even had a bead of sweat on his brow but I think it was more from worrying about scratching the paint than the work)

Almost all buttoned up

I am going to run it with the 215 sticks for a few miles then plan to put the bigger sticks in and see what this gasket will hold

must be a good feeling to have it back together. It's like ur taking a new cummins off the lot, minus the 9 years of wear on the truck, lol. Good luck and it looks great.

Thanks guys, it sure fired up easy with a few tips from Piers I didn't even have to bleed injector lines and get fuel all over the fresh paint. All that's left is the front bumper and its time to get driving

Too bad this setup is already seven years old. Probably needs another coat of paint by now (look at the dates on pictures)

Looks real good, I'd be afraid to drive, thinking something would leak on the paint.

Must be a great feeling to have a newly rebuilt 12v sitting in that truck. I hope she runs for a 300k+ miles

Wow, that looks great ! I guess Piers did the paintjob and all? Do you know what kind/brand of paint and how many coats they used?

It's Cummins red & it took 3 coats...although another coat wouldn't have hurt.

Is that a cometic MLS gasket for a 12v? thats out? Ive been watching posts about that to see if it can hold up to 500hp worth of boost and some extra timing versus rings.
Or is it a normal head gasket?
Whew that paint looks nice on there. The new pistons wont stay shiney for long though expecially with big sticks, heh heh heh.

I think that you should get one Piers tune-ups. Sweet ride buddy, I have to come out west soon for some diesel smoke tire burning. How good is the tranny? Now I've done it. Nice ride bud.

I like the new engine look but for some reason an old oily looking one appeals to me more, especially when you pop your hood after you race someone haha. Great job man!
