im running 150hp sticks, edge comp, and adkins lil 55 turbo for power mods on the stock HG and head bolts.
i can get a really good deal on a snow performance water/meth kit, but im debating whether it will do any good for me, and if it will be too much for my stock head bolts/HG

GB-- you could easily set up your water/meth system to make it easier on the HG. Just add little to no methanol, and make it mostly water.
This will slow down the combustion process and reduce the peak pressure spike that the HG has to deal with.
I would expect this to be the case with even mild amount of methanol mixed in.
Keep in mind that methanol is a fuel, and it will burn. That means that you may POSSIBLY experience a "detonation" like condition (like a gasser that needs race fuel) where the methanol ignites before the diesel is injected.
That said, methanol has a very high detonation tolerance, but I dunno if it's high enough to sustain nearly 17:1 compression AND some boost without autoignition.
Methanol autoignites @ 851°F. I'd say that it's pretty safe from a knocking perspective. If in doubt, just run more water and less alcohol in your mix.
With your turbo, you are certainly capable of hurting the headgasket, so take that into account.

thanks hohn...im still on the hunt for a smaller turbo, but my buddy ran the water/meth on a supercharged mustang one time and going to a turbo now so its a brand new kit for real cheap.

Maybe the meth will help open up your turbo options, but I still think you should just save for the tighter housing

50/50 Mix has produced from 40-60 hp... depending on your nozzle size and when you bring in the injection.
Measuring you TIP (Turbine Inlet Pressure) for an indicator of high cyl. pessures. It's fairly easy. Hook up a tyemporary pressure gauge to your Pyro hole. If this reading is same or less than boost pressure (1:1) I don't see how you can have high cylinder pressure, even though it's not exactly the same.
With a 55/14, wastegated at 45 psi.... I have no problems.

Understand! But if your leaving your wastegate at 40 psi... as set by JR....and your TIP (also known as drive pressure) is low, = or < boost, Hard to have a problem on a fully warmed up engine.

Conventional wisdom is the drive pressure kills HG more than boost, so RJ makes a good point. You *should* be really safe at 40psi, especially if it's a bigger turbo making 40psi. 40psi from a stocker is a lot more likely to pop a HG imo than from a nice custom turbo. Drive pressure from the stock unit at 40psi is scary high (70+)...

From my experience, using water meth will increase the combustion pressures. On my pickup going from 510hp on diesel to ~550 on water meth, would cause the cooling system to pressurize. The question of course is, would it have pressurized at 550 on diesel, don't know. What I can say is that once you get to a certain hp, you will blow the head gasket, no matter what fuel you are using. Fuels that burn quicker will cause combustion pressures to rise, but will also generally lower EGT's. No free ride...

Does anyone see any HG problems running water/meth with my Dodgzilla 14cm w/g with my current power upgrades in sig? I have my boost controller limiting boost @ 42psi and can easily crank that up or down with a few turns of the dial. I'm mainly looking to lower EGT's at WOT, and of course a few extra ponies wouldn't hurt either.
