Will Stacks Work With A Muffler

Is there room under an extended cab truck to install a muffler with stacks or do they have to be srtaight piped. I would like to use a single stack but don't think I could put up with the sound levels when traveling with a straight pipe.

IMO puttin a muffler on stacks defeats the purpose of stacks. Thats just my 2 cents. And if sound is the reason just get some dynomat or whatever its called to muffle the sound.

Magnaflow makes a short little 14" muffler that would probably fit......but come'on, its a stack.

If you do the single, post some pics I want to do one sometime.

I had a severe drone. Put on a short Dynaflex resonator. It took the edge off, and made the sound deeper. Sounds great.

We were over at Lima Ohio during the 4 Wheel Jamboree this last weekend and in my truly humble opinion although the straight stacks with smoke rollin out as you drive looks cool, while your around the general public like that your just turning popular opinion against us. Does nothing but prove to grandma grunt that we really are the cause of noise and air pollution and just hastens tightened smog control laws. Right place, right time, but not on the roadways around the general public.

Actually, I HAD a magnaflow. I tried the 24" magnaflow and the 12" magnaflow. I ended up doing it a 3rd time and straight piped it. There is more than enough room underneath a qcsb. Hell, there's a good 4-5 feet from the downpipe to the back of the bed.

Also, while dropping the muffler made it sound WAY better IMO, 4.10s and 265/70's at 80mph for a 300 mile roundtrip still has my ears ringing

The majority of my system is 5", and I do get some drone inside, but outside it sounds **** good. I had my friend drive my truck for me, including a 20psi 4wd launch, and it sounds **** mean. That and a 20mph cruise-to-wot transition, and holy, seeing a huge truck light 'em up while roling is truely a humbling experience. I've never seen it from the outside, but DAYUM.

You may want to consider an Aeroturbine muffler. They take the Edge off and sound great to boot.
I put a 5" T5050L aeroturbine on my truck after I got pulled over twice. No more problems from the police since then.

I'd reccomend the 4040L with resonator if you have 4" or the 5050L with resonator if you have 5"

a stack or stacks are quieter to the neighbors than regular old straight pipe...

but there is PLENTY of room on an extended cab... I had a ~30" muffler on my single cab with stacks... resonated worse inside than it did w/ no muffler, so I just ran straight stacks. screw the neighbors...
