Will a LUK Gold be enough?

The most I'll ever do are 90HP DDP's

Is this a good replacement?

Can't afford a SBC

?? The MU 90 is usually listed for about $350. Rated the same as the Con O.

I thought I needed a Con OFE or similar?

So I should be good with a LUK?

Because my guy deals with them and any warranty or stuff will be taken care of.

Honestly, I'm not familiar with what the Luk's are rated to hold. AFAIK, they are effectively a better than OEM replacement that are supposed to be direct fits. from what I see on SouthBends site the MU 0090 series are also direct fits. The Rally is rated for 350hp/700tq, Con O is rated for 400hp/900tq. Then there are the 13-1.25 that upgrate from the 12.25 clutch. The MU 13-1.25 is rated for 450hp/1000tq.

Hey, it's your truck. If you're getting a deal on the Luk, go for it.

It doesn't sound like your pushing the limits to make a heavier duty and/or larger clutch neccessary. If on the otherhand, you pull heavy loads, race a little, just plain push the limits of what you've got, I'd at least upgrade to the MU 13-1.25 Con O. It's rated the same as the MU 0090 but gives you a larger clutch surface to work with.

I had the LUK pro gold 13". I swapped to the southbend DD & sent the LUK out to get Con ofe facings & it is going into my brothers truck. The LUK is just too grabby, I wouldn't go that route again.

So I bought a Center Force I know I blew it. But I was packing 11,000 lbs. as aggressively as I could with my old slide in. The clutch has held up and still is holding up, a Luk gold should be fine. I will say though that my clutch can be grabby in the morning on the first few starts.

I had A LUK Gold in another truck, didn't take to long to tear it up. It was replaced with a southbend and was very happy with.

i ran the luk clutch for about a year. it held pretty good untill i tried a boost launch with it. other than me going past the design limitations it was a pretty good clutch for the money.

i have heard a lot of horror stories about the luk clutches. it would probably be ok if you are only going to do very little to your truck. But if you're like most of us on here, then a little always turn into a lot. if i were you then i would save up and spend a little more on a proven product. just my opinion

I've been running a Luk clutch for over three years and 30K+ now. I'm pushing a bit higher than stock numbers, and I've towed up to 9000 pounds with it a few times. Not once have I had an issue with my clutch.

I towed 15-18k# with my old Luk, clutch lasted 30k miles & started getting noisy like a spring came out of it or something. When we pulled it out, the pressure plate & flywheel were chewed up, but still within spec. I couldn't tell where the noise was coming from though.

Have a Pro Gold in the 12 valve for atleast 10k miles and towed over 15k pounds. The clutch has taken it perfectly so far. Full load with 100 plate full forward with a hybrid turbo running 40 PSI of boost. Zero slip!! No drag racing but tis puppy is abused. She was a tad grabby for a few days after install but now is good as the stocker. In a week or two we will see how she does with DD2's and a S300 turbo. Cant beat the Pro Gold for the money on a low HP truck.

Yeah, for the price, I'm going with it.

I'm not high on HP or TQ - 300/750

I'm sure it will hold up.

Thanks guys!

I'd love a SBC, but I can't justify it with my little mods
